GOP establishment plans Trump takedown

2. An anti-Trump ad deluge after Labor Day?

It's no secret the Republican establishment is unnerved by Donald Trump and his lead in national and key state polls.

And now, after weeks of assuming his support would be fleeting, there is a debate about how to take aim at Trump -- and just who should finance such an effort.

CNN's Maeve Reston noted that most GOP strategists see risks in having the attacks come from the other candidates or their directly affiliated super PACs. So, she reports, there is conversation about what other group might raise money for anti-Trump TV ads.

"There are a lot of donors out there who see it as much too dangerous, obviously, for the candidates, or their allied super PACs, to go after Trump," said Reston. "So they're looking to more establishment PACs to potentially take him down in post-Labor Day ads."

3. Bush is popular in the Hamptons, but has money problems elsewhere

Jeb Bush has a huge war chest and has enjoyed some summer fund-raising among the rich and famous in the Hamptons this month.

Ponder this ...

"In October 1942, ten months after entering World War II, America was preparing its first assault against Nazi military forces. Prescott Bush was managing partner of Brown Brothers Harriman. His 18-year-old son George, the future U.S. President, had just begun training to become a Navy pilot. On Oct. 20, 1942, the U.S. government ordered the seizure of Nazi German banking operations in New York City which were being conducted by Prescott Bush.

"Under the Trading with the Enemy Act, the government took over the Union Banking Corporation, in which Bush was a director. The U.S. Alien Property Custodian seized Union Banking Corp.'s stock shares, all of which were owned by Prescott Bush, E. Roland 'Bunny' Harriman, three Nazi executives, and two other associates of Bush"

That whole 'New World Order' crapola goes WAY back in the Bush DNA, if you ask me.

Remember the opening question at the first debate - which was meant to target Trump because he was the only one there who would 1) Not pledge support for the eventual nominee or 2) Not pledge to forego any independent run for the presidency.

When Trump gets to the point where he’s ready to make those promises (which should be soon) I hope he reminds everyone else that they have ALREADY promised to support the eventual nominee of the party!

FOX and the GOPe shot themselves in the foot with that question, which was clearly meant to damage Trump - since now it will come back to bite them, since if Trump gets the nomination (which looks likely) everyone on that debate stage has pledged to support him.

Sickening. And the term stuck and dems loved to use it against us.

How do you pick a VP who said your economic plan sucks?

Reagan was GREAT but his vp choice paved the way for a fall.

Bush raised taxes, lost to Clinton, probably because of that jerk perot who just last year did a major outsource of his company.

Then the son Bush, then obummer. What a run.

We need 16 years of Trump and Cruz!!

Very enlightening. Thanks for that.

I’ll say what I believe.

Bush should not have gone into Iraq. At the time, I was thinking what about the Saudis? He raised the debt by trillions, and in my opinion, wasn’t a good president and better men than him died or got wounded in Iraq.

People soured so much on republicans after that and obummer stepped and REALLY destroyed the world.

And now you tell me Prescott Bush had dealings with the nazis. Just wow.

If the Establishment is able to take down Trump, they will have NO PROBLEM taking down Cruz...and we’ll be left with another McCain/Romney.

So those trying to take down Trump are just doing the job of The Establishment and setting us up for yet another defeat.

The party tries to hold us hostage to the scary specter of Hillary. But ever since November when the Evil McConnell sneered at us after his big win, I decided that the Establishment was worse than Hillary. We got Obamatrade, we got gay marriage, we’re going to arm Iran. If the GOP somehow manages to force the eunuch Bush on us, I’m going to go Democrat. The whole early campaign was designed to disenfranchise conservatives,

Absolutely.

Unfortunately for the GOPe, the base has changed, and there's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.

Negative political ads only work if there's a viable alternative. There isn't. They cannot go after Trump without infuriating his supporters. That's not much different than shooting a hole in the bottom of one's own boat.

So begins the GOPe's well deserved slide to irrelevance and hopefully, obscurity. Seemingly, they can do nothing else.

Perhaps.

But I'm not discounting Mariner's point...half a billion dollars is a tsunami.

The GOPe does not understand that Trump is different than other candidates.

When fired upon, he fires back. With great effect.

(And I say this as someone who is enjoying the spectacle, although I cannot say I actually support Trump as the candidate of choice.)

If it’s postage-paid, paste the trump picture on a brick and mail that back! (Use lots of heavy padding to protect the brick) LOL

And the GOP wonders why Trump is so popular? Are they blind or have they looked in any mirrors lately? Trump successes are due to the GOP’s failure and trying to dump him would only make Trump that much more popular. To me, dumping Trump will be the end of the rinos.

I still have my reservations about Trump but having listened to many of his presentations, I like the guy and may be swayed to vote for him.

On another note, I noticed in today’s “fresh” news that there is nothing about Trump on FOX news, not a word. Guess they got stung pretty hard and are boycotting him thanks to their own employees stupidity and attempt to take down The Donald....

The GOPe was ridin’ high when they thought they had eradicated the Tea Party. They despised the Tea Party.

The GOPe won nothing. The Tea Party name may have been tamped out, but the size of the silent majority grew and is still growing.

And they are having no more of the status quo.

The people want pro America and neither political party is pro America.

The vile political parties need to be wiped out because they only care about their party and themselves and not the country

It will be good riddance to bad rubbish.

So the GOPe has a candidate who is very popular and shows high probability of winning the general, but because he didn't ask their permission, he didn't formally join their private club, he is to be shown the door?

I thought we were looking for the next POTUS, not the next President of the Republicans.

This Trump thing is delicious on so many levels. They thought they could control him by coercing a pledge of fidelity and a “no third party” promise. So he pretty much gave them that. But in all reality he is running as a renegade candidate within the GOPe. I think Bill “the crooked one” Clinton would call this triangulation.

They still don’t get it. People love Trump because he is not GOPe. This will backfire big time and only make him more popular.
