A Response to Free Republic Trump Critics
Vanity

Posted on 08/31/2015 12:43:37 AM PDT by Behind the Blue Wall

Why Trump?

1. Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it's not stopped soon, America will become like California -- a demographic one-party state.

2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

Therefore, Trump is the only candidate with a chance to win who has promised to do the only thing that matters.

No instructions in Romans 14:4 on how to judge:

4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

In the same book and chapter, vss 12-13, again no instructions ; just an injunction to stop it:

12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way.

Cruz praises Trump EXPANSIVELY. Why would he do that, if Trump is as liberal as you say he is?

Trump rides a line trying to be Reagan but not even close.

Dear caww, I gather you are not a Donald Trump fan. S'okay.

Myself, at this time I'm completely open-minded RE: the thorny question of whether he is qualified, fit to be the next President of the United States. So far, I don't see why not.

I don't in any way get the sense that Trump is trying to ride Reagan's coattails. Though Reagan, like Trump, was a former Democrat, evidently reformed by some kind of "come to Jesus" moment, whereafter he became a Republican (and major figure of stalwart American conservativism).

Another thing Reagan and Trump have in common is that both men had highly successful careers outside of public office. Indeed, Trump has never even held public office.

Which is probably why some people have such angst about him: They seem to believe that, since there is is no "public record" to judge him by, they are then free to impute to him all their own worst fears, to speculate about the supposed horrors of his future tyranny against the People of the United States.

I mean, really — when I see some of my most heretofore respected conservative opinion journalists (e.g., Charles Krautheimer, George Will, Stephen Moore, et al.) going into a state of apoplexy, of hyperventilation, anytime the word "Trump" comes up; who then impute to him all kinds of things, whether hinged in evidence or not; I begin to wonder, "what the Hail is going on here?"

Given such perplexities, I just go my own way. First, I recognize that, just because one does not have a record in government service doesn't mean that one does not have a public record.

Trump does. It is a record of excellence and achievement. And it has made him very rich. In this record, there have been mistakes, setbacks, even bankruptcies. But The Donald managed to survive, and learn from, his mistakes; to go on to build an even more flourishing business enterprise, of international reach.

I imagine he'd be the first person to tell you that he didn't, couldn't, do all of this all by himself. He surrounds himself with excellent people; ensures that they understand and commit to the organizational mission; holds them accountable for their performance; and then leaves them alone to do their jobs. This is why Trump projects — be they golf courses or hotels or whatever — usually have gone up on-time and under-budget.

This looks to me like a very sound model for the organization of Executive Branch departments.

Just some thoughts, dear caww. The only thing to add before I sign off for now is: Who on earth could possibly have a reasonable explanation supporting the charge that Donald Trump is a (closeted) Socialist???

If Trump is so liberal, why has Cruz praised him so often and so expensively?

Because he presently ATTACKS the correct people.. Simple..
But that can change..

Trump knows not to Attack Cruz.. wouldn’t want to make him MAD..
An angry Cruz would RIP Trump a new crease in his body..

That is the $40,000 question. My theory is this is more of a truce than a loveliest. Trump has been saying nice things about Cruz too. All part of the game.

No one was privy to the discussions leading to this, but if I were to guess, Trump told Cruz that he was going on the ultra-offensive, and would welcome his support for the nomination, if he didn't flame out. I bet the reverse agreement was made if the opposite happened.

Furthermore, as part of this agreement, I bet the other party gets to cherrypick his position in the administration. And in Cruz' case I'd bet it is SCOTUS, because I believe he has no desire to be VP.

“I’m not looking to increase taxes,” but criticized “hedge fund guys” who are “paying very little tax” or “no tax,” should “pay some tax”

WHY?.. Why should they pay more tax?..
ALL Americans are taxed way too much by the federal givernment.. All of them..

A glimpse of Trump views on TAXES.. just a glimpse..
A democrat could not have THAT any better...
Trump has NO problem with TAXING at all.. or with a ROGUE federal Leviathan..

As Long as it’s ORGANIZED BETTER.. more efficiently..

CRUZ WOULD GUT THAT BEAST... thats the difference..

It’s hard to walk back some of Cruz’ praise. He has said Trump is “terrific,” and that Trump “speaks the truth.” Cruz says, “I am a big fan of Donald Trump.”

Cruz also said, “I like and respect Donald Trump.”

So one day Cruz says, “I was just joking. I don’t really like Trump after all.”?

1. I don’t care what Trump SAYS about illegal immigration, his history shows he doesn’t mean a word of it. He’s playing you for a rube. Use it if you can to advance the issue until Trump crashes and burns, but do not ever trust him to do anything remotely like what he’s saying. (Which changes often enough I’m not exactly sure what he’s proposing anyway.)

2. Name recognition matters NOW, early one, which is why Trump is so high in the polls (along with being an avatar for the disaffected). When the field narrows, it matters far less.

You cut off the part of the quote about Trump wanting to lower most people’s taxes.

Actually, Trump has yet to release his tax plan.

However, the old Bush tax plan that we got all gaga about was a 3 tiered plan that went approximately: 10, 15, 25, 35 for various social classes. They lowered capital gains.

Now, believe it or not, Trump says “the rich should pay more.” Guess what. Looking at Bush’s plan that everyone fought for, dissed Tom Daschle over, and went to the wall over, ALSO taxes the rich more.

Trump’s plan in 2011 was 1, 5, 10, 15. Now, believe it or not, his taxes the rich more, too, but one heck of a lot less than Bush did.

Personally, I think the budget is so much larger that he’s going to have to go with 2, 10, 20, 30. But, again, that’s lower than what we previously fought a war with democrat senators over (back when we used to fight democrat senators).

And to say ‘hedge fund managers’ pay too little, does not mean all will be taken from them. I think he wants their proceeds also to be considered income. Personally, I agree with that. Just because I have to work for a living doesn’t mean my money isn’t important to me. So, if it’s income, then it’s at the rate of 1,5,10, or 15. If Trump updates that, then it will be at more.

But it will still be less than or equal to what we sainted the early George W. Bush over. (Also, Trump wants to lower capital gains taxes.)

Reading it again, it should have said ‘4 tiered plan’. Wish there was an edit key.

I was 7 years old when JFK was elected and I will never forget how optimistic and excited adults were for our country. I am seeing and feeling that same attitude again. For Trump!

Which has always been TREASONous.. Democrats are Traitors..
In every case every time all of them.. from the time of Lincoln..

Slavers democrats, KKK democrats, Southern segregation democrats, Amer.communist party ex or current-democrats,
Anti-Constitution democrats, Abortion democrats, Anti-gun laws democrats, Taxes democrats, Income tax democrats, federal reserve democrats, it goes ON and on and on..

Democrats are for democracy which is a political disease that causes SOCIALISM... and FASCISM.. MOB Rule by Mobsters.. Democracy is a lie no democracy has EVER been democratic..

The US Constitution OMITs the word democracy from it completely ON PURPOSE...
