Well, that will throw a wrench into Obama’s plan to take down Assad under the guise of fighting ISIS

All this trouble in the middle east can be blamed on Jimmy Carter abandoning the Shah of Iran in the late 1970’s. The Shah of Iran may not have been s pure as the wind-driven snow, but he was far, far better than the Ayatollah that replaced him. Assad not the greatest guy either, but his potential replacements are far worse.
I am not all that worried about Russia's influence increasing in the area because there is so much freaking oil available everywhere, the middle east is never going to be the dominate force in the petrochemical arena.

So the choice is the greatly weakened, Iran-supported, secular dictator Assad, supported by the Russians - or some unknown group of Christian-killing, Caliphate entrepreneurs and ISIS, supported to various degrees and for unknown reasons by our “friends” the Saudis, Obama, and John McCain
Sorry, I’m with the Russians on this one as the better of two evils.

Well if they do as well in Syria as they did in Ukraine then there will be a steady flow of body bags back to Mother Russia.

The skies above the ME are getting crowded. So crowded that some ATC or pilot might make an error.
Not a good part of the world to make a shooting error.

Good. This means less troops and planes to be used in a possible offensive in Ukraine.

Hate to say it, but:
Go Russia.
Since someone needs to do it.
I guess.
Lets face it, at the very worst, we’re seein’ dead ISIS and dead Commies. A win-win situation.

Well, this is ONE thing the Russians are doing (i.e., bombing ISIS) with which I agree. What’s our fearless, young president doing...sightseeing in Alaska (August being the most popular month for that).

This sets up a possible miscalculation with US, Turkish and Israeli planes in the same airspace.

We’re forgetting about the Turks our NATO partner . While its PM has been slapped down for his attacks on the Kurds there is still an hostilty toward the Assad regime. The Russian committment of support is foreboding news.
