Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis releases statement [sodomite unions]

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. —Late Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to extend the temporary stay of a federal court order involving Rowan County Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis.

The federal court previously ordered Davis to issue marriage licenses to the plaintiffs who filed suit against her.

Liberty Counsel represents Davis and appealed that order.

The lower court order was temporarily stayed until Aug. 31, but now that the Supreme Court has declined to act, the stay of the order is no longer in effect.

In light of these developments, Davis released the following statement:

I have worked in the Rowan County Clerk's office for 27 years as a Deputy Clerk and was honored to be elected as the Clerk in November 2014, and took office in January 2015. I love my job and the people of Rowan County. I have never lived any place other than Rowan County. Some people have said I should resign, but I have done my job well. This year we are on track to generate a surplus for the county of 1.5 million dollars.

In addition to my desire to serve the people of Rowan County, I owe my life to Jesus Christ who loves me and gave His life for me. Following the death of my godly mother-in-law over four years ago, I went to church to fulfill her dying wish. There I heard a message of grace and forgiveness and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. No one is. But I am forgiven and I love my Lord and must be obedient to Him and to the Word of God.

I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God's definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God's Word. It is a matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment, the Kentucky Constitution, and in the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Our history is filled with accommodations for people's religious freedom and conscience. I want to continue to perform my duties, but I also am requesting what our Founders envisioned - that conscience and religious freedom would be protected. That is all I am asking. I never sought to be in this position, and I would much rather not have been placed in this position. I have received death threats from people who do not know me. I harbor nothing against them. I was elected by the people to serve as the County Clerk. I intend to continue to serve the people of Rowan County, but I cannot violate my conscience.

That’s something only God can know.

I’d estimate less than 5% of claimed repentance is honest. Very very few actually change their behavior in any substantial way. The vast majority of these claims are made to get people to let their guard down so the claimant can find more people to steal from (or worse).

It’s not an abstract concept to me, this is very very common behavior down South and only a complete fool would trust it without verifying.

I’ll give you an example. I know some people who have a property in the mountains with a river running along the edge. The mother of this family is infatuated with church and insists that the church members be invited to do baptisms there. Every single time the church group shows up, they get robbed. Every single time, without fail.

You cannot trust a claim of coming to Jesus. That’s a call only God can make and you are best off not believing it unless it manifests itself in a long term change of behavior - which it rarely does.

And yet you insist on only allowing the purest people to stand up for their rights.

Interesting.

As a private citizen she has those rights. As an government employee she does not. The lawful choice that is hers to make as a matter of belief and conscience is whether her beliefs are more important than the government paycheck.

Wow. You support a religious test for office!

How anti constitutional.

If you take these claims at face value you will not be left with the shirt on your back.

I do not have faith in men, I have faith in God. If you put your faith in men you will always lose faith because all men fall short. My faith in God and my well-formed conscience is what guides me.

I know that marriage based upon homosexual sex is a fallacy promoted by those who choose to circumvent and criminalize the promotion of and observance of absolute and self-evident truth that embody natural law which is the bedrock that this nation, my unalienable rights and very liberty are premised upon.

There is no rational basis argument for God-given rights and any court that imposes such a requirement is by its very nature unconstitutional.

Here’s the right way to respond to the federal court:

If they want to determine what marriage is, dump the entire caseload on them and let them have it.

That’s not what a religious test for office means, and the prohibition against such tests is not license for government employees to disobey the law.

Well said.

Here’s the right way to respond to the federal court:

Divorce is a whole other animal. You do realize that a court can not decree a marriage void unless it was never valid? Say for instance, never consummated. How do those suffering the homosexual disorder validate their disordered couplings? Where is that law?

The no-fault divorce process is simply the method used by the state to encroach into an otherwise inviolate area and divide up assets and determine custody of children prior to an inevitable and preordained outcome -an agreement by both parties to divorce. The agreement is either voluntary by both parties or voluntary by one and involuntarily the result of court intimidation upon the other. Much like the court tries to force Kim Davis to comply many spouses not wishing divorce are forced to comply...

Homosexual marriage is just another step down the Leftist Godless anti-family path. The damage done to the institution of marriage by divorce will be compounded by the damage wrought by homosexual marriage.
