Bush Gets Personal With ‘Germophobe’ Attack on Trump
Time Magazine ^ | 9/2/15 | Zeke J Miller

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is escalating his all-out campaign against GOP front-runner Donald Trump with a new ad campaign and quiz on social media designed to highlight Bush’s conservative credentials in contrast with the businessman’s past embrace of the Democratic Party.

-snip-

In a strikingly personal attack, the quiz asks voters whether they would prefer a candidate who “is a germophobe when it comes to shaking hands,” a reference to Trump’s documented phobia, Bush, meanwhile is cast as a candidate who “strives to shake every hand everywhere.”

Oh my - this is a campaign issue for Bush? It’s like a little kid kicking someone in the shins. Our country is going to he** in a handbasket - and he makes an issue out of hand shaking? I’ve seen Donald shake plenty of hands. He doesn’t like to - but he does it.

There is a protocol, or used to be, that shaking hands was somethiing done between friends, and anytime it was business, there were no extending of hands. You signed papers, instead.

Jeb is showing his high-and-mighty self again, and his less-than-enough knowledge of business practices.

Remember, he has failled at every business endeavor that he has attempted, so he only had public service left, for him to do anything good with his life.

And then came Terry Schiavo.

Making this into a criticism of Trump is beyond childish.

One of the Clinton biographies talks about the “bucket guy” who would be on the campaign trail in the days before pocket bottles of hand sanitizer. He’d be in the limo or the bus with towels and a bucket of soap and water for after the candidate had been out pressing the flesh.

That is truly bizarre. I agree. And whoever is coming up with these ideas for him is out there, too.

Do you really need to wonder?

A few years back my wife and I were visiting a different church, while introducing myself to one man, I proffered my hand, he looked at my hand like it was full of poopie.

He told me that he didn’t shake hands and then went into an overly long explanation as to why he didn’t. It was the disease passing reason.

O.K., I get it but it was the first and only time it has happened to me and I must say it was a feeling of humiliation that flooded over me.

Why not just carry a small package of those anti bacterial wipes with you and at the first discreet opportunity, sterilize your hands?

All you need to do is not touch your eyes/mouth/nose until you can get to a bathroom and wash your hands. Not too complicated.

I didn't say Trump hand-bumps. I'm saying that the hand-bump is that gained popularity as an alternative to handshaking.

How's this for a campaign slogan...."Get Dirty with Jeb"

if you had any idea how many people do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom, you’d be a germophobe too!

Didn’t a Pres Bush use a hand sanitizer after each time he shook hands?

IIRC, this offended obama till he was explained why this was done. Germs.

If Trump is a germophobe then that’s great! The white hut will get a super thorough cleaning and cleansing.

In 1950, Senator Claude Pepper (D-FL) and his one-time protege and future Republican were locked in a primary fight. Smathers eventually won, but a fake speech that he never gave almost swung the election to Pepper. Time magazine falsely claimed that Smathers said:

“Are you aware that Claude Pepper is known all over Washington as a shameless extrovert? Not only that, but this man is reliably reported to practice nepotism with his sister-in-law, he has a brother who is a known homo sapiens,[10] and he has a sister who was once a thespian in wicked New York. Worst of all, it is an established fact that Mr. Pepper, before his marriage, habitually practiced celibacy.”

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Predicted future utterances from Jeb:

“I know you are, but what am I?”

“If you love it so much, why don’t you marry it?”

“I triple dog dare you!”

“I’m rubber, you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.”

That’s exactly what all candidates do the minute they are out of sight of the crowd. Its actually probably necessary because of the chances they could get sick from someone that had a contagious disease when shaking thousands of hands a day, and when campaigning, time and the appearance of being healthy are critical. So I don’t blame them for it, even if it seems elitist.
