I agree with Carly but think it’s awful that she’s going to jail. That’s scary.

Did the woman refuse to resign? If so then she’s causing a problem for herself.

I hate the incursion of deviant lifestyles into the realm of being legally allowed or endorsed, but am not exactly sure what government is to do about it.

You will probably be ok with taking pastors to jail for refusing to sign marriage licenses too.

Pray America is waking

I'm inclined to think the county clerk should resign, too ... but there's no way in hell she should be punished in a Federal court over this.

This just further reinforces my view that government has no business in licensing marriages under ANY circumstances.

The incredibly simple and effective solution is to get government out of the personal affairs of citizens by not issuing marriage licenses at all.

Marriage = 1 man and 1 woman. NOT 1 man, 1 woman, 1 government.

Look, she was voted in, up to her employers - the people to vote her out. Especially as this was not law when elected. It is not like she is only one in world can sign the damn things.
Pisses me off. I knew gays in the 70s who were married by a priest from UF campus catholic church. When they broke up they freaking took off their rings. That was before they were flaunting everything in every one’s faces. As my mom used to say “I don’t go out in the streets and yell I am straight.

“I agree with Carly but think it’s awful that she’s going to jail. That’s scary.”

It is scary. The United States now not only has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world, but now has branched out into thought crimes. The United States now holds prisoners of conscious for political crimes.

From Wikipedia:

“GULag or Gulág is an acronym for the Russian term Glavnoye Upravleniye ispravitelno-trudovyh Lagerey, ... or

“Chief Administration of Corrective Labour Camps”

- the bureaucratic name of the governing board of the Soviet labour camp system, and by metonymy, the camp system itself.
