Another KY clerk vows to not issue same sex marriage licenses

Two clerks, one message.

Casey County Clerk, Casey Davis, vows to join his now famous colleague from Rowan County, Kim Davis.

'I'm trying to help a woman that does not deserve to go to jail,” Casey Davis said. “This woman has done nothing wrong."

Using vacation time, he will cross the state on a 400-mile bike trip from Pikeville to Paducah to protest against what he considers a public prosecution of a Christian. This as Kim Davis is confronted by the very people she turned away.

"Is this what you want to remember?” yelled David Moore, one of the gay men trying to get a marriage license from Kim Davis Tuesday. “That you stood up for this? That your children have to look at you and realize that you’re a bigot, and you discriminated against people?”

Kim Davis asked them to leave. She did not issue any marriage licenses even after a Supreme Court Ruling.

"You're telling us that we don't deserve the same rights as you do, that you have, that you've enjoyed your entire life?” Moore asked.

“Would you do this to an interracial couple?" he asked her.

"A man and a woman?” Kim replied. “No."

Despite the pressure, Casey Davis says he won't issue any same sex marriage licenses either.

"I want to be as free as they want to be," Casey said of LGBT couples.

The couple at the center of the video inside the Rowan County Clerk’s office says the clerks are already free, just outside of their jobs.

"I think that narrative is pretty far from the truth,” David Ermold, Moore’s partner said. “This is really, truly just about someone doing their job."

Casey plans on reaching Paducah Friday evening. What he doesn't plan on doing is stepping down and thinks Kim Davis shouldn't have to either.

"This is the job I was elected to,” Casey said. “If the people of my county my constituents don't want me to have this job when I run again, they'll tell me that."

Casey Davis proposes having the person officiating the wedding issue the marriage license. He says he's got some support from other state leaders.

Amen. Bad times are coming to this evil world, praise God for the Blessed Hope, as bad as it is now, it’s going to be unimaginably worse when the Restrainer is removed and the man of evil comes to power.

Then we need to have been enforcing immigration law on “sanctuary cities” for years now, since it’s very important to enforce the rule of law.

I don’t like gay marriage any more than anyone else, but look it’s the law of the land and upheld by the Supreme Court. No matter how repellent, the only recourse is civil disobedience, and then you’re going to get arrested and face all kinds of legal trouble. The rule of law that says Hillary should be prosecuted for her misdeeds is the same rule of law that says these clerks have to give marriage licenses to gays. If we pick and choose which laws we’re going to enforce then the other side will do the same and you end up with anarchy.

No offense, bigbob but I am going to go bonkers if I keep seeing this idea on FR.

The other side HAS done the same. IS DOING the same. There is no rule of law now, only the liberal Will to Power. Are immigration laws being enforced? 2nd amendment laws being enforced? Rioting laws being enforced?

And anyway, there is a principle in law that has been around for hundreds of years and was accepted by all of Christendom up to the Founding Fathers, that the Natural Law supersedes all human law. No human being can make a law that violates nature and/or the divine law. It would be null and void from the start.

So what you are saying, in effect, is that if the state legislates something contrary to nature, then we are bound to obey the state and not nature.

We are not picking and choosing at all. We are saying this order is illegal because it flatly violates the Natural Law, and therefore does not have to be obeyed. Please, for the love of all that is holy, do not accept the idiotic liberal premise that human law is the highest authority.

Has he been issuing them prior to this?

I am certainly not going to allow the godless socialists to box me into a corner where they can break the laws at will and I must follow them. Not gonna happen.

And you're cool with that?

If you don't defend the rule of law, even when it's inconvenient, you won't have it as recourse when you need it.

What the Founders gave us is not something of no value to be thrown away so you can "win" and force your interpretation of God on everyone.

Sorry. It's civilization itself you are discarding.

No I'm not cool with it!

And I am not denying the role of Law. I am actually defending the Natural Law, which is the source of all human law.

What the Founders gave us is not something of no value to be thrown away so you can "win" and force your interpretation of God on everyone.

Um, excuse me, but if you've rejected Natural Law, you've already thrown that inheritance into the garbage and are just arguing over scraps. The Founders premised this country on the "Laws of Nature and Nature's God"...they appealed to it in justification for their breaking their ties with King George. Which was ILLEGAL. And treasonous.

It's beyond infuriating to see the *central legal premise* of the Founding Fathers be treated by conservatives on this site as some mere sectarian imposition.

Read it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_law

This is Cicero. A pagan. Gonna accuse him of forcing his interpretation of God on you too?

“True law is right reason in agreement with nature; it is of universal application, unchanging and everlasting; it summons to duty by its commands, and averts from wrong-doing by its prohibitions. And it does not lay its commands or prohibitions upon good men in vain, although neither have any effect on the wicked. It is a sin to try to alter this law, nor is it allowable to attempt to repeal a part of it, and it is impossible to abolish it entirely. We cannot be freed from its obligations by Senate or People, and we need not look outside ourselves for an expounder or interpreter of it. And there will not be different laws at Rome and at Athens, or different laws now and in the future, but one eternal and unchangeable law will be valid for all nations and all times, and there will be one master and ruler, that is, God, over us all, for He is the author of this law, its promulgator, and its enforcing judge. Whoever is disobedient is fleeing from himself and denying his human nature, and by reason of this very fact he will suffer the worst penalties, even if he escapes what is commonly called punishment ...”

You are defending your sectarian beliefs across a secular society. That’s simply not going to work in today’s society.

Like it or not, that is the reality of the situation.

I would rather defend the rule of law than try to explain why we should dictate how people decided to pair off.

Are you familiar with Thomas Moore, “A Man for All Seasons” was the movie:

***********************

William Roper: So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!

Sir Thomas More: Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

William Roper: Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!

Sir Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ‘round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!

I agree, conservatives need to be smart about these issues. The gays are looking for opportunities to punish Christians and force them to participate in their sin. Christian companies like Bakeries and caterers should create contracts that allow them to “sub contract” any service to another company. I would bet most of the time the Gays really do not want the service. They seek these religious groups out knowing they will not work with them. So just take their money and use a competitor or other company they have an arrangement with to perform the service. We need to be smart by taking these issues off the table....

*banging my head against the wall*

I am a Catholic. Almost none of the Founding Fathers were Catholic. William Blackstone was not a Catholic. Cicero wasn't even a Christian. Every single one of them believed in the supremacy of the Natural Law over positive law. And you call this sectarian?

You, my FRiend, are dumping 2000 years of jurisprudence overboard because you don't think it will...ahem..."work" in secular society.

And like I've been saying, you are not defending the rule of Law. You are defending the tyranny of positive law over the Natural Law. You are saying that since human beings can't agree on whether water is wet, fire burns, and men and women have babies, we *might as well* let the courts decide it case by case. That is insane. Barking mad, French Revolution insane.

And yes, I am familiar with St. Thomas More. Do you remember what he said at his trial?

"Forasmuch as, my Lord, this indictment is grounded upon an Act of Parliament, directly oppugnant to the laws of God and his holy Church, the supreme government of which, or of any part thereof, may no temporal prince presume by any law to take upon him as rightfully belonging to the See of Rome, a spiritual preeminence by the mouth of our Saviour himself, personally present upon the earth, to St. Peter and his successors, bishops of the same see, by special prerogative, granted, it is therefore in law amongst Christian men insufficient to charge any Christian."
Ack! Sectarian! Sectarian!

“You’re telling us that we don’t deserve the same rights as you do, that you have, that you’ve enjoyed your entire life?” Moore asked.

See, he can only say this because the government is in the marriage business. Get government out the marriage business and their is no “discrimination”.
How? Eleminate “marriage” for ALL and replace it with a civil union agreement.
God fearing folks can have an additional ceremony and be “married” before the eyes of God.
Otherwise, the queers and pervs will keep crying discrimination. Take away government marriage and you disarm the left.
Use Seperation of Church against them the left. Government can not force a church to “marry” two men.

I agree the issues will never go away; that is why they need to be made irrelevant by taking them off the table. Conservative states should have addressed the Marriage issue long ago. The gay agenda was never going to give up on their efforts on marriage. They will also continue to seek out Christians for opportunities to force their lifestyle on us. So let's be smart about it, If the States want to issue marriage license just change the name to civil union license. Remove the word Marriage from all state documents. And let them sign up for it online. Keep people who might be Christians out of the process. No more headlines of them being discriminated against. Make the Gay agenda irrelevant....

Let the Supreme Court enforce it.

I hope this catches on. Citizen nullification is the only recourse we have left in fighting the federal leviathan. It’s time for some citizen organizing.
