ranscription can’t possibly do justice to a hilarious exchange yesterday between radio host Hugh Hewitt and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“Are you familiar with General Soleimani?” asked Hewitt of Trump.
Trump responded by saying “yes,” though it was the most “no”-sounding “yes” that the Erik Wemple Blog remembers hearing. Listen to the very beginning of this audio:
After saying he was familiar with this fellow — Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the famous leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force — Trump indicated that perhaps he wasn’t: “Go ahead, give me a little, go ahead, tell me.”
Hewitt: “He runs the Quds Forces.”
Trump, in a classic: “Yes, OK, right.”
Hewitt: “Do you expect his behavior–”
Trump: “I think the Kurds, by the way, have been horribly mistreated by us.”
Hewitt: “No, not the Kurds — the Quds Forces, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Forces — the bad guys.”
Trump: “Yes, right.”
Hewitt: “Do you expect his behavior to change as a result –”
Trump: “Oh, I thought you said Kurds, Kurds.”

Did he ask him next if he knew who the leader of the Guardia Civil in Spain is? Or maybe who is the District Attorney in Ocean County, New Jersy? These sort of questions serve one purpose, to make someone seem dumb even though virtually NOBODY has ever heard of these people.

Nothing like the good ole Washington Post to write an overly biased article. They are pathetic.
Hewitt is a smart guy but he reminds me of the smart guy in high school that liked to rub it in the nose of all us commoners.
I truly believe Hewitt has an inferiority complex in that when a caller disagrees with him on virtually any point Hewitt goes off on a tirade that is extremely unprofessional and is demeaning to the caller. Then when Hewitt feels like he has destroyed the caller he hangs up on them.
We all could denigrate Hewitt with our own gotcha questions about our own specialty areas of knowledge. He just likes to think he is smarter, more intellectual and superior to all us little people.
Doesn’t HH and Erikson work for the same company? Hewitt is an elitist McConnell and Boehner loving establishment hack. he guaranteed a Romney victory proving how out of touch he was and is.
And if someone asked Obama those questions and he didn’t know the answers, you’d never let him hear the end of it.
Part of being President is knowing your enemy. On foreign policy, Trump is word salad.
