Jindal hits Trump: 'Throwing the Christians in jail' won't make America great

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is hitting at Donald Trump, saying that "throwing Christians in jail" won't "make America great again."

In a series of tweets Friday morning, the 2016 White House hopeful invoked the controversy over a Kentucky clerk jailed for refusing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Jindal: Hey @realDonaldTrump you can't make America great again by throwing the Christians in jail.

Trump: I understand asking forgiveness from God and respecting communion is a personal decision.

Jindal: But even really rich New Yorkers should oppose jailing Christians for their religious beliefs

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was held in contempt of court and jailed on Thursday after refusing to issue the licenses to gay couples, claiming it would violate her religious beliefs. Deputy clerks in her office began issuing licenses on Friday morning.

Jindal's tweets came after Trump, the front-runner for the GOP nomination, expressed sympathy for Davis, but said the county should issue marriage licenses.

"The decision came down from the Supreme Court ... so I'm a believer in both sides of the picture," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I hate to see her being put in jail, I understand what they're doing," the real estate magnate said, when pressed. "You have to go with it. The decision has been made, and that is the law of the land."

Several Republican presidential candidates blasted a decision to put Davis in federal custody Thursday.

The issue has divided the GOP field, with Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee strongly supporting Davis, while other candidates have sought a balance.

Jindal, who is vying for the support of evangelical voters, is near the bottom of the 17-person GOP field.

Based on what statements are quoted, he is seen to look flakey on 2nd Amendment rights.

In the end if we choose God, then God will make right whatever else is wrong. But if we choose the man who seems to have the right philosophy today, that philosophy could change tomorrow and then we’d be up a creek without a paddle.

That must be it! Jindal’s secretly plotting with the establishment (and probably the Illuminati too) to take out Trump. Anyone who criticizes Dear Leader Trump is conspiring against him and cannot possibly be right on the issue because Trump is always right.

Congress let this happen.

The states have let this happen.

Cruz is a sitting member of congress. The current congress let this happen on their watch. Now, due to the inaction and ineptude of congress, the SC has effectively legislated law from the bench, and usurped authority of lawmaking from congress.

In effect the SC has wiped their collective asses with the 10th ammendmant, and taken over the state courts.

And the state legislators, courts, and executives have rolled over on their backs in appeasement.

Trump and Cruz both need to take it one step further. They need to charge the citizenry, that if you want the law changed, elect congressmen that will hold the justices accountable and change it. We need a grass roots campaign to impeach the justices.

Great idea!

Anyone who doesn’t stand with her is unworthy of high office, and certainly can’t be trusted to choose judges.
Is Hillary worthy? Rush asked, “If you think Hillary won’t be the nominee, who will?” He’s got a point.

And what will all the “illegal server/email” stuff - or anything else - matter if JEB is the nominee and is as ineffective like Mitt Romney?

It doesn’t look to me like Hillary could handle Trump. JEB can’t, that’s pretty clear. As a tactical matter, we need Trump to defeat JEB.

I was appalled when Trump first entered the race. But the results - up to this particular issue - have been all to the good.

It is SCOTUS - Kennedy, yes, but all of the usual suspects along with him - who created this mess. And there’s no obvious answer to it.

I acknowledge that I’d rather have Cruz naming judges; failing that I’d like him to be on SCOTUS himself. So far Trump has gone a long way to diminish JEB; I don’t know how to get from where we are to President Cruz. Any ideas?

Trump is doing himself a good turn by turning up at Cruz’s rally against the Iran deal.

He needs to do himself another favor by turning up at a rally for Kim. And taking a page from Cruz’s book on Planned Parenthood.

Just as Cruz needs to toughen and clarify his immigration policy.

Cruz recovered from his TPA debacle with a 20 minute address eloquently calling McConnell a liar to his face.

It worked with me.

At some point the court is going to force Christians into doing and assisting in abortions and euthanasia. Where do we draw the line in worship of the amoral Supremes’ world or Christ?

Some of us will turn our backs on Christ in order to be acceptable to the Supreme’s amoral world as it devolves. Many already have. I don’t want to be one of those.

May as well draw the line at the Supreme’s daring to override the Bible on the meaning of marriage before it devolves into mandated murder. I am not taking the mark of the beast, either, which means “the world” will try to cut me off from food and shelter. That’s life in a barbaric, anti-Christ society/globe.

WE believe the states should be stepping up to invoke the 10th amendment on abortion and gay marriage. We will never take the mark of the beast and have made provisions so we will never be in that situation. God is turning his back on America. We are going to suffer the consequences very soon.

My only reply to Bobby Jindal is you are the Governor of the sovereign state of LA. Why are you not invoking the 10th Amendment and nullifying this SCOTUS decision? Other wise just go home.

Don’t forget that if Trump is elected he will not be alone. He will be surrounded by people like Cruz and Palin.

He is not a fool and will listen to conservatives around him.

He came out against deportation and in favor of work permits that lead to citizenship.
