GOP presidential hopeful Cruz to visit jailed Kentucky clerk

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is heading to a Kentucky jail to support the county clerk imprisoned for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier says the Texas senator will meet with Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis on Tuesday afternoon. Another Republican presidential hopeful, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, had previously announced plans to meet with Davis Tuesday.

Davis has become a conservative hero since being jailed last Thursday. The GOP’s evangelical wing says she should be allowed to deny same-sex marriage licenses because of her religious beliefs. The Supreme Court made same-sex marriage the law of the land in June.

Frazier says Cruz won’t attend an afternoon rally with Huckabee and other Davis supporters outside the Carter County Detention Center where Davis is being held.

To clarify, unless another candidate comes on the scene, you will support no one of any party for the Office of the Presidency. correct?

Why are you trying to put words in my mouth? I will support the best candidate at each step in the process. At the moment, the choice is: "who sucks the least".

As to being "vague", I suspect you will attack any post that is critical of "your guy". I made a general observation - How about you come up with specifics as to why Cruz is the best choice and maybe I'll listen. Until then, go away.

God bless Ted Cruz for supporting Kim. I so hope he is the GOP nominee. Hopefully the “Trump-ettes” won’t steal it away from him.

I wonder if Cruz would do this if he weren’t running?

Ted Cruz has been doing these kinds of these kinds of things long before he started running for president. He brought the US government to a stop over Obamacare in 2013 and he wasn't running for president.

My mistake. I screwed up bigtime.

Sorry about that.

I’m embarrassed to say what I was thinking about and can only plead Low Caffeine Levels in my defense:

God Bless Ted Cruz!

This is what a true leader would do.

He’s acting on principle out of an authentic sense of decency!

He belongs at the helm of the ship of .

Myself with a likely majority of Americans agree that this was wrong.

I hate to have to tell you that you also are wrong that this is not now the law. The Constitution gave the SCOTUS authority to decide what was law regarding the circumstances when they consider a case.

The Constitution also gave Congress the ultimate authority with the ability to over-rule a SCOTUS decision.

It is now up to those that oppose this same-sex marriage ruling to tell Congress to correct this wrong decision.

In all likelihood, some GOP candidate will win POTUS. He will need a better Congressional leadership than we are now stuck with to correct this and many other SCOTUS ruling that damage our liberty and the America as it was intended. Keep that in mind when we vote in the Primaries this next Spring.

None of the very public critics have made this case.

I’m glad Cruz and Huck are going to visit Davis. I wish Trump would come out and say that its time for the Judge to let her out and settle the matter another way.

What you’re not understanding is that SCOTUS has no power to demand that any entity legislate anything at all.

Congress and state legislatures have the legitimate right to ignore the SCOTUS.

This is why we need Cruz, and no one else.

The rest, Trump included, are orders of magnitude below him.

Trump has already said that she belongs in jail for breaking a law that doesn’t even exist.

.....”I have to also wonder if this is just a political ploy on his part”....

I don’t think so...he’s a Constitutionalist and knows exactly the full ramifications for our Country over all if ‘this’ doesn’t pan out right....I tend to think he will ‘quietly’ meet with her attorneys as well as he was on board from the get go.

It’s not only Christians who are affected....it will be ‘everybody’ by this dastardly push on gay marriage. Which is why it’s being pushed the way that it has been...it’s about the POWER of the Progressive movement and the NWO Agenda for this nation...they are all linked to this gay marriage push...

Sounds like you may have the process a bit discombobulated.

Back to Constitution 101 for you.

Yes, hopefully Cruz will be the nominee if Trump stumbles or more likely decides he has had enough playing Pied Piper, looks around and points to Cruz to finish the deal.
