Trump Criticizes Carly Fiorina’s Looks: ‘Look At That Face!’
The Daily Caller ^ | September 9, 2015 | Chuck Ross

Posted on 09/09/2015 10:49:08 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Donald Trump took shots at several of his fellow Republican presidential candidates in a Rolling Stone profile published on Wednesday, but it’s his comments about Carly Fiorina’s physical appearance that are attracting the most attention....

“Look at that face!” he cries. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!” The laughter grows halting and faint behind him. “I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?”

Asked what she believes Trump meant by the comment about her face, Fiorina said “I have no idea.”

“Honestly, Megyn, I’m not going to spend a single cycle wondering what Donald Trump means. But maybe, just maybe, I’m getting under his skin a little bit because I am climbing in the polls.”

Fiorina was far from the only GOP contender that Trump mocked in the Rolling Stone article.

Moments before his comment about Fiorina, Trump and his aides appeared to joke about Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s mental acuity.....

the media are trying to destroy Trump. this is about the 10th article I've seen just tonight from different media outlets on this single comment supposedly made by Trump.

The media don't report on the debt, unemployment, illegal immigration, Iran deal, Obama’a many crimes including the IRS oppression of conservatives , that Obama is trying to give nukes to Iran, executive amnesty, Obama trade etc. etc. no that is not news to them but a comment that said by Trump that the media think will hurt Trump oh that's the top news so they say.

The media is the enemy and they've destroyed the USA and many on here are taking the media's side and going along with the lynching. incredibly these here try to help the media destroy the one that could save them and us.

It’s not Trump’s fault. It’s the media. all the media are playing gotcha trying to get trump to say something they can use against him as Megyn Kelly did. We’ve seen them do this to Palin , Cain etc.

Every one has said something stupid or done something stupid . Who hasn’t regretted something they’ve said or done? The media just plays gotcha and then they broadcast anything that they think will hurt Trump over a million media outlets every minuted of the day for months.

The media did the same thing to Sarah Palin and others. Many liberals and low info voters still think Palin is a joke and dumb because of those media smears. I even talked to people from Australia that think those media smears are true.

But they ignore all the crimes that Obama has committed and all the problems that they the media have imposed on America as in illegals.

A real news media would be reporting on real issues and problems and things the president and the government has done wrong , not a single comment by someone that is just running in an attempt to affect the election by destroying Trump.

We have to call the media on what they are doing . the media are the enemy.

Who hasn't said or done something stupid or that they regret especially something that is off the cuff and not planned? I have all the time. It's called being a human.

He's praised her so much, donated to her, been a member of her party - what in the world will they debate?

Right! In fact it's my understanding from folks right here on FR that he's her stalking horse!

WOW, who knew? Guess when he called Hillerys likkers old man a PERV he must have been drunk. I have so much to learn.

People who want Trump to be president have to realize that these sorts of mean spirited and personal attacks are his standard operating procedure. Disagree with him. You're a loser or an Obama supporter. Note that he's never held elected office ever. You're a hater. He inspires his supporters to the same level of blind loyalty as Obama did with his. Yet there are too many flaws to ignore. He cannot accept any criticism. He's petty, thin-skinned, and juvenile in his attacks on twitter and TV. Much about Trump that is helpful is undermined by his lack of perspective, inexperience, lack of knowledge, and nasty attitude towards other well-meaning people who have been conservatives longer than Trump has. For Trump, conservatism is situational and for his electoral benefit only. The ones he attacks are different. These people have done much more to build the coalition of libertarians, neo-cons, paleoconservatives, fiscal conservatives, Reagan Democrats, and Christian conservatives. Reagan united conservatives of many backgrounds. Trump is about Trump. He's not seeking to only destroy GOPe. He's simply too vain to work with others. And in a policy and practical sense, he's too mercurial to maintain the promises (see his pro-Syrian refugee comments) that inspire his loyal supporters.

Good summary.

Just when I was starting to like him. Not sure having Rodney Dangerfield Jr in the WH is a good thing.

Yes.

I’ve criticized a good number of Democrat’s looks and nobody said a thing. When I said I’d hate to look at that mug announcing policy for four or eight years, people chimed in to agree.

Now it’s a woman and all the folks who swore they’d never be a part of gender politics are doing that very thing.

Do you folks every think at all? Seriously. It’s as if you were born yesterday and don’t remember any of the stuff I do.

Pull up your waders and man up.

And she endorsed him for re-election to the Senate.

What a blessing that was...

Trump is the only GOP candidate I can recall calling Hillary a criminal, which is correct. I do not recall anybody else saying that directly. Even staunch conservatives like Walker have avoided that so far, even though everybody knows it is a true statement. I also take his comments about Fiorina’s looks differently. I do not think he was calling her ugly. I think he meant that as an attractive woman she is not suited to negotiate with the likes of Iran or any other islamofascists. The just wouldn’t take her seriously. That may be unPC to express but I have been in this part of the world for a while and it is the way things are. I read only what is in the article and if he said more than that I am not aware of it.

You’re carrying water for the ‘Rolling Stone’.

I personally don’t believe a word they write about anything. And if I ever see one of their reporters I will lie like they’ve never seen just to see the egg slime dripping from their face when they get caught.

Oh, they’ve been caught dozens of times in publishing lies but they never apologize or retract. They are simply not credible.

Let Trump have his fun, he’s not stupid. Fiorina will never get near the White House, Donald will likely live in it for 8 years.

In defense of Rodney Dangerfield he used self self-deprecating humor. But your point is well taken.

“When I was born I was so ugly the doctor slapped my mother.”

“I looked up my family tree and found out I was the sap.”

“I could tell my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio.”

“Yeah, I know I’m ugly... I said to a bartender, ‘Make me a zombie.’ He said ‘God beat me to it.’”

Walker: “Americans will look at the Clinton scandals closely…The American people want elected officials to operate within the same rules as everyone else.”

That is not calling her a criminal directly or even indirectly. Perhaps weasel worded statements like that are why Walker is not gaining all of the traction I thought he would?

Who would believe after what Trump said about Megyn Kelly, after he’s on his third wife, after his personal attacks on other women about their looks, that Trump would say such nasty things, right? He’s a cad, isn’t he?

This was posted earlier. She is scary in so many ways. Not someone I’d want to wake up next to; not someone I’d want to have to look at or listen to for more than a few minutes. Did you see here on MSNBC yesterday. Ouch—deer in headlights, stretched, awkward, and very unpresidential and out of place.

I don't know you but I'm sure Carly Fiorina wouldn't want to wake up next to you.

Good summary.

The term is "presidential temperament".

John McCain didn't have it. He was thin-skinned...and mean.

Trump is expressing a similar lack. He can be thin-skinned...and petty.

You know how series on TV (Cable, etc) have to get more and more outrageous to keep viewers?

That is what The Donald is having to resort to, eventually the show is cancelled (well past the time it should have been).

I wouldn’t disagree. Look, Trump said nothing many of us are not already saying privately or among our friends. He needs to be more disciplined about who he shares such comments with and shame on the reporter for taking what was obviously a private comment and reporting it. Trump does not need to apologize for something he believes, just needs to say that this was a private comment that should have remained private. I hope he learns, else these unguarded moments will be his downfall.
