1) Trump NEVER went after Hispanics. He went after illegal immigrants. That goes for Chinese, Pakistanis or whatever.
2)I know Hispanic US Citizens who are perfectly legal and whose families have been here for generations. To a man they have all experienced the occasional stupid white person asking them if they’re illegal. You will always have your percentage of random idiots, and when it happens these guys just laugh it off.

I have worked in areas with heavy hispanic populations. I would ask 4 out of 5 hispanic people a question and get a shoulder shrug and ‘no no Inglés’
As far as questioning someone’s legal status i am kind of suspicious when an adult male has to look at a piece of paper in order to type his his S.S.# number in a time clock. Or, when someone can not speak a word of english or talks loud and incessantly in spanish in a break room.
Even then i can not absolutely prove anything. Although, probably the odds are about 1 in 4 workers probably have questionable legal status.

Having lived in LA for 6 years, I know first hand that:
1) The best Mexican food is in little hole in the wall places in neighborhoods like Boyle Heights or Hawthorne and
2) That a lot of folks in those neighborhoods are indeed, non-English speaking persons.
The lady writing this article is doing the typical leftist projection — as she sees everything through a racial lens, she of course transfers that worldview onto anyone that has a different ethnic or racial heritage than her. Its sad really; most of us just want to have a few adult conversations about this and get on with our lives.
