Forget what Trump says about Fiorina's face. Her HP record is the issue
CNN ^ | Paul R. La Monica

Posted on 09/10/2015 9:07:32 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Fiorina was the CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HPQ, Tech30) during a tumultuous time for the Silicon Valley legend.

She joined the company in July 1999 after a successful stint at AT&T (T, Tech30) and its networking equipment spinoff Lucent.

But the tech bubble burst only a few months after she took the HP job.

Fiorina tried to jump start the company's growth in the PC market by acquiring rival Compaq in 2002 for $19 billion.

That deal is now considered one of the worst in the history of the tech sector. And HP wound up laying off 30,000 workers during her nearly six-year tenure.

By the time of Fiorina's ouster in February 2005, HP's stock had lost nearly half its value. The Nasdaq index had fallen 27% during the same time frame.

Adding insult to injury, HP's stock rose 7% on the news that she was leaving HP.

I covered Fiorina's departure for CNNMoney. At the time, an analyst covering HP told me "nobody liked Carly's leadership all that much. The Street had lost all faith in her and the market's hope is that anyone will be better."

they’re all acting infantile. I’ve called the MSM and all those folks that for decades. You are not smart enough drag queen to understand the concept of mutual exclusivity......if you did, you wouldn’t be so lost in this debate.

Little word change eh?

You've gone from Trump acting infantile, after he's received 4 professional and 724 lower leve malicious hits, to *everyone* is now acting "infantile".

Right Eddy?☺

Okay Carley haters. Here’s what went on at HP. A long time ago in a Unibus far, far away was a cult operated computer company called Digital Equipment Corporation where I was badge #72,999. It’s founder Ken Olsen believed that there was no need for ordinary people to ever need computers. This philosophy was agreed to by those from HP who, as evident in their turning down first dibs on the Altair Desk Top that MicroSoft’s hardware guy developed, also saw no need for ordinary people to have computers. The future they saw was in Mainframe Corporate networks. Now, I’m sure those of you reading this on a VAX 1150 also are waiting for the mother ship to take them away. Oh, BTW. On my Exit Interview. The cult member would not let me leave. It took a phone call that one of my friends who worked there made to a Piasan. Who called the front security desk. Where a local guy who knew the name. To come and escort me out of the building over her shrieks. That’s what Carley was up against. Do you go with PC’s ior VAX’s?

There have been several defenses by her Board

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-08-27/fiorina-super-pac-takes-out-full-page-new-york-times-ad-defending-business-record

This is from a leader of the opposition who now says I made a mistake. I'm just sick of all the consrvative3s that use the Democratic talking points to bash her. She may not be ready for President but she is better at everything than Hillary. Carly actually ran a company large enough to lay off 30,000 - and lose less than 10% of the staff.

I don't know why you posted that to me. I couldn't care less what HP is or does. The big corporations are part of the big problem. Since they have zero zip allegiance for America, I have no allegiance or sympathy for them.☺

"That deal is now considered one of the worst in the history of the tech sector."

"Considered" by whom? That is simply an ignorant or deliberately skewed and biased opinion that has no basis in fact.

Beware of "confirmation bias" when reading hit opinion articles.

If you are really interested in facts, read the following post and thread and the few links within it, to convince yourself in exactly the opposite from the biased opinion hit pieces, posing as the facts and citing the same Big Lie "sources" over and over:

Ex-HP board member who voted to fire Fiorina endorses her [Tom Perkins] - FR / The Hill, 2015 August 30 (links and posts #1, #2, #9, #16, #22, #27, #32, #34)

Obviously, unless people (like Trump, whose own record of bankruptcies cost thousands of jobs and billions of shareholders' and lenders' dollars) have issues with her face on TV, this is about the only thing they can try and use as distraction, to try and "disqualify" her. She is not one of the celebrity "reality show" people with thousands of "groupies" hanging onto their every word as a gospel, even when what they say doesn't make sense, is contradictory to what they said just a few hours or minutes ago and may be crude and offensive.

Seriously? You really don't understand the consequences of what happens in Chapter 11 bankruptcy? I could provide you with SEC and court filings on Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc. / Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts (DJT) (some matters are still in court, vs Carl Icahn) but first please read the links and posts I provided references to in the previous post (also see the chart in post #2).

This fact-filled article might also help you see where the thousands of jobs and billions of dollars of DJT shareholders and creditors disappeared:

Just the last BK:

I still don’t see where TRUMP went bankrupt. Some of his business deals, I see. So, who cares? Happens every day, multiple times a day, and the government never bailed him out, as far as my research has taken me. Do you understand business? What about GMC? Who bailed out that lame brained corporation? What about Chrysler? Who bailed that lame brained corporation out for the SECOND time sice the 1970’s?

HP was ossified and losing market share because of a hidebound corporate culture She recognized that survive HP had to expand its product line. The Compaq deal was bad because Compaq was a crap company. The HP board was so resistant to change she could not win I am not an apologist but there is more to the story

Yes, I do. Ask around, read my posts (which is what I asked for the first time)...

What about them? What does it have to do with Fiorina, HP (which didn't go bankrupt, and actually successfully turned around after Fiorina cut the opex and merged with the much better positioned in the market, server and laptop leader Compaq) or Trump or his business bankruptcies? Why are you are trying to change the subject?

Nobody was talking about personal bankruptcies, it was all about business and management. And that's exactly the point, that's what you asked to "prove it", isn't it? (like Trump, whose own record of bankruptcies cost thousands of jobs and billions of shareholders’ and lenders’ dollars)..Really? Prove it.

Shareholders and creditors of the public company Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc. / Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts (DJT) had faith in and relied on Trump's celebrity name and aura of success to invest in the public entity in which Trump had a separate, initially controlling class of stock, (not GS / common stock class).

Trump used it to roll into it his debt-laden casino properties which he financed with expensive "junk-grade bond" CDOs — first, Trump Castle, and about a year and half later, similarly debt-laden Trump Taj Mahal. At which point his debt became assumed as the debt of shareholder-owned but Trump-controlled DJT. He proceeded to run all these properties into the ground, wiping out shareholders equity and billions of dollars in debt write-offs and causing thousands of layoffs.

I provided many links confirming these outcomes. Shall we consider it proved? Or keep changing the subject?

Do read the posts and links I provided. There will be a lot fewer questions and lot less confusion. If you want to ignore it, fine, then you have the same kind of faith in Trump that the people who invested in his celebrity name and reputation had... before they were wiped out. He did quite well for himself, though.

Media and Democrats like Trump now, just as they liked Bob Dole and John McCain, so they are not going to ask tough questions and ignore his brush-offs, so they can enjoy the ratings and the show... Later, it wouldn't be so congenial.

Why do you take that tactic, the constant name calling?
You declare Trump a no go because of it, yet I read you do it over and over.

Starting to get the McCain vibe from you, just because we don’t view situations the same as you.

Not name calling.....just accurate descriptions. And no, i never ever called Trump a no go - and not because of it. I said Trump is dangerous because of his liberalism, not his personality.

So if you’re gonna butt into a three month running feud, at least get your facts straight. Your ignorance is showing.

What you people don't understand is that I'm toying with you - I'm going over the top vitriolic to see if any one of you can figure out that I'm parodying your savior - and yet, you don't see it. I thought someone would figure it out, but I guess not. And you yourself stepped in it...comparing a Presidential candidate with an internet poster, and not seeing the astonishing irony in it.

Palin has classic type beauty. Carly is no where at all close to palin in looks.

Sorry, but it is a fact. Carly looks hard edged. Palin does not.

One thing I have noticed is that Trump haters possess some of the same traits that they complain about in Trump.

They just can’t see it in the mirror. LOL

There is no doubt that HP ran into a lot of trouble while Fiorina was at the helm. And much of it, not all but a lot, can be attributed to her. But if business failure and job losses are a reason for discount someone from presidential consideration then Trump should be out of the running. Anyone remember Trump Magazine? Trump Mortgage? Trump Air? Trump University? Trump Casinos? I’m sure there were a lot of job losses involved with those failures.

Good catch! I stand corrected.

Here’s what I said: “She could be prettier than Palin, but the fact that she’s GOPe all the way makes her just as ugly as obama, Boner or McCommie.”

Better written, here’s my intent: “Even if she were prettier than Palin, the fact that she’s GOPe all the way makes her just as ugly as obama, Boner or McCommie.”

In other words, she has absolutely nothing going for her, not even her looks.
