deporting 12 million undocumented immigrants is impractical

Mexico did it.

These guys never talk about going after the employers. Can’t imagine why.

Self deportation” is an excellent concept with an unfortunately unconvincing name.

What was unconvincing about it was the fact that it came from the mouth of pro-amnesty Mitt Romney.

That didn’t help, either. And he did a very poor job of articulating it to people.

Uh, if we just quit giving them free foodstamps, free eduction, and free medical care (except in emergency cases), they would deport themselves.

I have seen it over and over again. It does not work with me, but every time the political class uses the “can’t deport x million illegal immigrants” argument, they get away with it.

Carson is a sacrificial anode to keep Trump’s numbers low and keep a jbush’s options open in February.

"He seems like a decent man and by all accounts is a good physician. As I said before, so is the doctor who did my father's knee replacement a year or two ago. The difference is my father's orthopedic surgeon doesn't go around thinking he should be President."

Exactly...

And, his softening on immigration is just the beginning of his spineless laydown.

We can’t deport 12 million but it was possible to IMPORT 12 million?

I don’t believe the 11-12 million number either, they have been using it for way to many years.

So Carson gives us the same canard as the rest of the GOP, i.e. "you can't possibly round them all up and send them home, so [by implication] we shouldn't even try." It's support for amnesty in an underhanded, roundabout way, i.e. "well, I'd like to do something about it, but we can't, so we won't." By the same logic, we should never arrest thieves, because the logistics of catching them all is also prohibitively expensive...

Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!

No. The beginning was Carson coming out in support of gun control. This is the CONTINUATION of Carson’s shift to the left.

Operation wetback...

Ike wanted jobs for World War II vets... NOT for third world Mexicans.. President Eisenhower sent millions of illegals back to Mexico...

It can be done...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1638817/posts

From Link:

Headed by the commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization Service, Gen. Joseph May Swing, the United States Border Patrol aided by municipal, county, state, and federal authorities, as well as the military, began a quasimilitary operation of search and seizure of all illegal immigrants. Fanning out from the lower Rio Grande valley, Operation Wetback moved northward. Illegal aliens were repatriated initially through Presidio because the Mexican city across the border, Ojinaga, had rail connections to the interior of Mexico by which workers could be quickly moved on to Durango.

A major concern of the operation was to discourage reentry by moving the workers far into the interior... It is difficult to estimate the number of illegal aliens forced to leave by the operation. The INS claimed as many as 1,300,000, though the number officially apprehended did not come anywhere near this total. The INS estimate rested on the claim that most aliens, fearing apprehension by the government, had voluntarily repatriated themselves before and during the operation.

The San Antonio district, which included all of Texas outside of El Paso and the Trans-Pecos,qv had officially apprehended slightly more than 80,000 aliens, and local INS officials claimed that an additional 500,000 to 700,000 had fled to Mexico before the campaign began.

[”It sounds really cool, you know, ‘Let’s just round them all up and send them back,’” Carson said. “People who say that have no idea what that would entail in terms of our legal system, the costs - forget about it.]

“So Carson gives us the same canard as the rest of the GOP, i.e. “you can’t possibly round them all up and send them home, so [by implication] we shouldn’t even try.”

Doc should start thinking outside the box. The common denominator that keeps Illegals here is.....MONEY. So, if they could not earn money (and couldn’t get welfare) they would return to their home country. Heavy fines on any American individual or company employing Illegals would work.

Good point. If you want to do it, it can be done. You have to want to.

Take away all metal objects and magnets will fall on the floor.

Take away all freebies in the U. S., and the illegals will fall below the Mexican border.

[Stiff fines and jail the employers. Stiff fines and jail for the landlords. Things will change, very, very quickly. “Self deportation” is an excellent concept with an unfortunately unconvincing name.]

Right...on...the...money. Keep it up.
