Ronaldo Reagan's jokes
Reagan tells jokes at Democrat’s expense, a reminder of a far better era of the American Republic. I listened and laughed with tears in my eyes.
A must WATCH!
Wow that takes me back! I love the SHUT UP at the end— so “uncivil”. Great presidents have great sense of humor, lets make sure our next one has plenty of it.
A great sense of humor is a sign of great intelligence.

I guess I didn’t post this thread properly. It’s been lots of years since I have done anything on FR other than reply to threads that someone else started, so I may have goofed it up. Sorry bout dat, I just received this email this AM and thought it might bring back memories of the good old days when we had a President who we could actually be proud of. If the email address doesn’t work I may try again if anyone is interested.
Reagan was never uncivil. He told those jokes in such a disarming way that even Tip O’Neill had to laugh.
His Presidency caused the Dems to freak-out and ramp up all of the Alinsky stuff, which is why there is no civility today IMHO.

Unlike much of the political "humor" today, Reagan's jokes made their points in a gentle, almost playful way. They were truly funny, and there was no nasty edge to them. Even the Democrats laughed! You can see that in the video.
Thanks for the post! It sure does remind me of the good old days. (note my tagline.)
The one about I am not going to use my opponents youth and inexperience as an issue in this campaign was devastating at the time. The economy was going gangbusters, and about the only thing Mondale had going for him was questioning whether Reagan was too old for the job. So when I heard that joke, I thought, Mondale cant afford to laugh at that joke, or hes finished. Mondale did laugh, to his credit - but just as surely, he was finished after that.Sam Donaldson wrote much later that he was the one who asked Reagan whether age was an issue in the campaign - and was dismayed to see a gleam in the presidents eye as he did so. He wrote that he knew in that instant that Reagan was loaded for bear on that issue - but he was committed to the question.Which tells you in so many words that the neutral moderator and objective Journalist Sam Donaldson was just as much in the tank for the Democrats back then as any modern journalist is today.
Great stuff.
Those tears were not just tears of laughter, they quickly became tears of sorrow when I remembered those days and then came back to the 21st century and realized that my grandchildren know nothing about the good times for the American people that are gone but not forgotten by many of us who lived in that day and time. Not everything was great about that era by a long shot, but at least we could be proud of our President and that hasn't been the case since then, especially not for the last 7 disastrous years.
The Democrat Platform on the farm is the funniest.

Correct, it WAS the second debate . . . after Reagan had done poorly in the first one, and the Democrats were hoping to pin the over the hill label on Reagan.
