Carly Fiorina promised on Wednesday that she is aiming at Donald Trump in the second GOP presidential debate.
Well, I think Mr. Trumps going to be hearing quite a lot from me, she said in an interview with CNBC from Concord, N.H. Donald Trump and I are in totally different businesses, Fiorina said. Hes in the entertainment business and hes also in a privately held business.
If you file for bankruptcy four times, I think it suggests either a lack of judgment or a lack of discipline, she added of Trump, the front-runner in the 2016 GOP presidential race.
The former Hewlett-Packard CEO added that she boasts a better business record that Trump.
In the business I was in, we had to report our results publicly, as you well know, in excruciating detail, quarter after quarter after quarter, she said.
And if I misrepresented those results or those projections, I could be held criminally liable, Fiorina said. If I had done it, I could have gone to jail.
Those are his standards, she added of Trumps private business empire. I think my standards are what the American people would appreciate politicians or people running for office being held to.
Fiorina then reiterated that her status as an outsider does not disqualify her from the Oval Office in 2016.
Politicians havent done a very good job of running the country either, she said when asked about her political experience. So why would you conclude it takes a politician?
A CEO is a job that requires a level of technical mastery built over time, Fiorina said.
I believe I am the most qualified candidate running in either party to be president of the United States, she added. And I think more and more voters are starting to agree with me.
Trump sparked criticism with comments about Fiorina in a recent Rolling Stone interview.
"Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? he asked while watching a news clip of Fiorina. Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?"
Trump currently leads the GOP field with 29.8 percent support, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of samplings.
Fiorina, meanwhile, places seventh out of Republican 16 candidates with 4.3 percent.
This'll be fun. Trump will destroy Fiorina's failed business record in one unscripted sentence.
“Hearing” and “listening” are two different things.
Trump doesn’t listen to losers.
Great—A shrew on the DIM and a shrew on the GOP side, each vying for the title of every man’s first wife.
And Fiorina has always made her money working for someone else,,,,OOOPS! When she starts her own mega-corps then she will have some cred on that issue.
But can she make a good sammich?
The debate will be a circular firing squad that will only serve to delight CNN and the Democrats. Instead of candidates thoughtfully explaining positions, it will turn into an insane food fight. It will be another GOP train wreck.
Enter at the sound of the Harpy.
She might want to put some thought into how she is going to soon HP’s 10% meltdown.
Too lazy to look it up, but seem to recall the Board of Directors wanting her out as CEO. If so, that’s not exactly an endorsement of her business performance either.
It was good that,” Rolling Stone”, took Trump’s words and twisted them. He later said what he was talking about. If Carly goes off on him like what she was doing in the start of this thread, It may be like a power hitter getting a hanging curve ball. Trump won’t let the opportunity pass.
I wonder in part if Trump made the “face” comment knowing that it would get such a reaction, and subsequent attack from FioRINO.
He might have something special planned to cut short her “rise” in the polls.
yawn.
Seriously I could care less about Fiorina, and if her sole purpose for being there is to attack Trump she might as well quit now because I am not interested.
More like stealing if you ask me. I worked for Lucent during her tunure there.
There’s nothing we like more than a shrieking harpy.
Thatcher, she ain’t.
Someone should mention that to her.
and like the Greek shipowners who own a lot of ships...
each one is constituted as a separate entity.
so if one ship goes down it doesn't drag the rest of the businesses down.
just smart business practice.
Did she really go after his business acumen? Do people seriously think this is going to stick? He’s worth all of them combined. 4 failures out of how many businesses he has? To most people, thats a pretty good record
Two harpy comments in one minute.
Gotta be a FR record.
:)
CNN MONEY..Forget what Trump says about her face. Fiorina's HP past is the issue - Sep. 10, 2015 .And Trump is right to point out that Fiorina's track record in business isn't all that good. Fiorina was the CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HPQ, Tech30) during a tumultuous time for the Silicon Valley legend. She joined the company in July 1999 after a successful stint at AT&T (T, Tech30) and its networking equipment spinoff Lucent.
But the tech bubble burst only a few months after she took the HP job.
Fiorina tried to jump start the company's growth in the PC market by acquiring rival Compaq in 2002 for $19 billion.
That deal is now considered one of the worst in the history of the tech sector. And HP wound up laying off 30,000 workers during her nearly six-year tenure.
By the time of Fiorina's ouster in February 2005, HP's stock had lost nearly half its value. The Nasdaq index had fallen 27% during the same time frame. .
You know, Trump has probably been involved in literally hundreds of ventures. To have 4 go belly up is actually, in those circumstances, not bad. Also, you have to look at the context - these mostly occurred, IIRC, in the early '90s, right after the government first pulled the rug out from the entire real estate market with the '86 tax act, and then took it out in the back yard and shot it in the late '80s and early '90s with the Resolution Trust Corporation nonsense of just dumping properties on the market. This affected the ENTIRE economy.
As for Fiorina herself, getting fired from a large, going concern is somewhat of a challenge. If you just do a so-so job, they keep you and give you raises and bonuses. She had to have cost HP a lot of money in failed ventures to get fired.
Methinks that she is barking up the wrong tree, Trump is likely to hand her head to her. This is business, which he's been doing for a lot longer than her (since his teens, and he's near 70). My advice would be for her to show why HER experience and HER vision are the best for this nation - not to attack other candidates. Frankly, I'd give ALL of them - Trump included - the same advice. No one except Ted Cruz is obeying Reagan's 11th Commandment, and they are all thereby giving the Dems ammunition for next November.
Rush was Right.
Fiorina is the designated Trump attacker tonight.
Way to take one for the GOPe Team, Carly!
