Trump to Jeb: Your brother gave us Obama
The Hill ^ | 9/16/15 | Julian Hattem

Donald Trump on Wednesday evening said that former President George W. Bush was to blame for the election of Barack Obama, during a heated exchange with the ex-president’s brother, Jeb Bush.

Bush, the Republican front-runner said at the main-stage GOP debate on CNN, “gave us Barack Obama.”

“Because it was such a disaster, the last three months, that Abraham Lincoln couldn’t have been elected,” he claimed.

The comments came amid an extended debate with the former Florida governor over the merits of the war in Iraq. Bush has been in the hot seat before over his brother's policies, by refusing to say that the invasion was a mistake. He again defended the decision to send troops in to Iraq on Wednesday.

“One thing about my brother, he kept us safe,” Bush claimed. “I don’t know if you remember.”

Trump, meanwhile, took credit for opposing the war shortly after it began in 2003.

“I think it’s important because it’s about judgment. I didn’t want to go into Iraq and I fought it,” the billionaire businessman said on Wednesday.

“I am the only person ... that fought very, very hard against us — and I wasn’t a sitting politician — against going into Iraq,” he added. “In fact, a delegation was sent to my office because I was so vocal about it.”

Trump had publicly opposed the U.S. invasion into Iraq, though much of that criticism appeared to have occurred months after the war began.

The comment quickly evoked a response from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the most libertarian candidate running for president this year.

“I’ve made my career as an opponent of the Iraq War,” Paul claimed.

Former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, too, raised to voice to note that he also “suggested to President Bush that we not go to war” when the issue was raised in 2003. In response, Trump gave Carson a high-five.

Trump’s attempt to claim credit for the position is a stunning turnaround for the Republican Party, which has struggled over its position on the oft-maligned U.S. invasion.

It’s folks like Trump who gave us Obama
It was Trump “the one with such great judgment” that said Obama would be a great leader.
Then a year after Obama was elected Trump said he was doing great with the economy and appointed a great cabinet.

Trump was against going to Iraq! Who else was against going to Iraq - Oh, Obama. Then Kerry was for the war before he was against the war.

Trump is aligned with the likes of Obama and Code Pink types.
I’ll stand with Bush over them any day.

The Iraq War was a fiasco. The GENIUS KARL ROVE strategy of NEVER DEFENDING THE WAR was a double-plus disaster.

The mismanagement that was Bush, Inc led to the Black Hole of Barak Obama.

We need another Bush like we need a thermonuclear device detonation in one of our cities.

Reason #6,492 why not to vote for Jebush: He would spend his entire four years defending his brothers administration.

More like the left-wing media and entertainment industry’s constant bashing and ridicule of GW gave us commie Obama. Plus a whole lot of ignorant, stupid, easily manipulated, people at the voting booth.

I agree with Trump. But, it wasn't what you claim. It was Bush's ever leaning left policies that led to Obama. Bush's appeasement policy to anything on the left sent the message to the electorate that "Hey, it's inevitable - might as well join them". The rabid left will always vote with our pocketbooks but the people in the middle thought "Even Bush and GOP are saying that it's okay to have big government and a nanny state. Might as well go all the way with Obama".

That's how Bush led this nation to Obama. Bush gave in and a good portion of the nation followed.

One of the reasons Trump is ahead in the polls is because people remember 2012, when the establishment candidate said NOTHING against The Great Golden Negro.

Trump is not afraid to say what he things about anybody.

Anybody.

Anybody.

I agree with that too. GW did soften the nation up toward socialism. But the constant (phony, since, as I showed above, every major democrat supported the decision, except you-know-who) attacks over his administration's decision to go to war had a huge effect on many people, especially the stupid, low or near-zero information types, which, unfortunately, makes up at least half of the population today.

Rove is an idiot .
He spend 400 million in 2012 and has nothing to show for it.

I recall W sent Jebbie to Wall Street in the Summer of 2008 to stop the
market melt down !

Look what we got !

Precisely. The media are spending a lot of time on another 'adverse reaction to the status quo' candidate, and the electorate is no brighter.

Let’s be honest and admit that John McCain gave us Barack Obama. George Bush could have been the second coming of Ronald Reagan and McCain still would have lost.

There you go stating facts...
McCain was the fall guy who took one for the team.

And of course Trump said more than once over these years that he thought obama was just great.

And the truth of the matter is that stupid people (especially those suffering from white guilt) gave us obama.
Because he waved and smiled and said things that they wanted to hear.

When Trump was NOT running for President he was a businessman. And saying Obama sux would have been bad for business.

Just like he donated money to both sides, for the same reason- they ask, he donates- it was just business.
