Mitch McConnell should have taken Harry Reids deal on Iran, GOP Sen. Jeff Flake said in an interview Thursday.
The Arizonan said that it does not make sense to hold repeated procedural votes on Iran that are sure to fail, as the Senate is doing on Thursday with amendments that would require Iran to recognize Israel and release Americans held in Iran.
Instead, Flake said Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-Ky.) and his lieutenants should have reached an agreement with Minority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) to have a final vote on a resolution disapproving of the Iran nuclear deal at a 60-vote threshold. That would have failed as well, but would not have technically been a filibuster.
I dont agree with my leadership on this, Flake said as he headed to the Senate floor to make a speech criticizing the GOPs focus on forcing President Barack Obama to veto the resolution. It does not make sense.
On the floor, Flake said that even if the GOP were able to get the disapproval measure on the president's desk, it would have "no value." Indeed, Obama would have vetoed it and Congress would have been unable to override. Still, many Republicans said it was important to force the issue with Obama.

Democrats still control the congress.
Dumbazz.. History will at least put Obama on record with his veto when everyone looks for blame as to why America died
Voting for Jeff Flake is maybe the biggest mistake I have made in 10 years.
He had me fooled.
Shame on me. (hanging my head in shame)
Followed closely by moving to Arizona. God knows I hate this place.
Can’t wait to see this guy try to give the Ayatollah a kiss to prove how “tolerant” he is towards Muslims, only for the Ayatollah to behead him for that.
Sadly, this was a guy who once had promise before he got McCainized.
Flake is a flake.
Why even bother with all this nonsense? Obama has not met with the statutory requirements of the legislative deal as the house has said. Just proves McConnell is Obola’s puppet.
This flake is going to be One-Term Flake. IMHO
Flake trying to get to the left of McConnell?
Why? I am looking forward to moving to Tucson in a couple of years.
I am convinced they believe they will be able to blame the results of this on Republican administrations that follow. It will be said that Obama’s deal was sound, but Republicans strayed from his goals, which resulted in failure. You know the media will portray it that way, and at least half the Republicans will agree.
“Voting for Jeff Flake is maybe the biggest mistake I have made in 10 years.”
Both Flake and Reid are Mormons. One is just stupid, the other is vicious. Time for the Mormons to step up and kick them out! But they won’t.

Good luck with that! I have a HS classmate who has retired to a spot just north of Tucson. He tells me that he always takes his sidearm any time he’s forced to go into downtown Tucson proper. We also had a former Japanese exchange student who went to the university there. He said that you could hear gunfire every night. Isn’t “diversity” great!
Still a Republicrat defeatist mentality. With the thought that anything they try might get vetoed, so why try, will get them nowhere. They need to be defeated in the upcoming primaries, not in the general.
Even more RINO than McConnell.
Flake is the GOPe John Kerry.
“Still a Republicrat defeatist mentality.”
Hitler described Mussolini: “Good appetite, poor teeth.”
He might as well have been describing our GOP heroes.
We’ve all been there. I feel your pain.
