The House on Friday voted along party lines to freeze federal funding for Planned Parenthood after weeks of escalating tension surrounding its use of fetal tissue.
In a 241-187 vote, nearly all Republicans and two Democrats approved legislation that would block Planned Parenthood's federal funding for one year, giving time for Congress to fully investigate claims of wrongdoing by the provider.
Lawmakers also passed a bill tightening restrictions on abortion doctors who violate infant protections in a 248-177 vote.
What weve learned about Planned Parenthood is appalling, barbaric and indefensible, Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) said.
Three Republicans broke ranks to vote against the funding freeze: Reps. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), Robert Dold (R-Ill.) and Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.). The Democrats voting to defund were Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), who are both opposed to abortion rights.
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) voted "present," objecting that the measure would allow Planned Parenthood to perform abortion in cases of rape, incest, and when the mothers life is at risk.

Most hospitals refuse to perform abortions. In fact, there are no hospitals except for state hospitals in all of eastern Oregon. It is literally hundreds of miles from the vast stretches of eastern Oregon to find a private hospital in the Willamette Valley.
Thank you, and I agree with your assessment.
Indeed, many of the dirty details of the Clinton years as in Bill Clinton’s abuse of Monica Lewinsky were dumped out on Friday’s by the political machine.
Lippy Jr is pro-life (he and Peterson are the only rats in Congress that can truly be called that, IIRC, Henry Cuellar voted with planned parenthood I guess) and Dold, like Kirk, is 100% for abortion, otherwise Lippy is significantly more liberal than Dold.
Frankly, there isn’t a rat in the House that isn’t to the left of the worst RINO.
I wasn’t aware Dent (PA) was such a prick on abortion too, to be on a list with Dold and Hanna. I thought he was more “mildly pro choice”.
Dent has a mixed record .... and he is only 55 and has a fairly safe seat.

Shame on him for this.
Susan fing Collins voted against them in the Senate!
I call BS to your story. The events may be true, but the details are bogus.
I’m sorry for my harsh reply. The doctors should have been sued for gross malpractice if your sister even implied she might be pregnant, and they still prescribed drugs that would harm the baby. Unless those drugs were the only way to save the mother.
Aagan, please accept my overly aggressive response.
Aagan, please accept my APOLOGY for my overly aggressive response.
Sure.
I believe that abortion is homicide and it is now homicides committed for profit.
“Two weeks later she started experiencing seizures. The baby had become toxic, had ceased developing and was no longer viable. The ER doctor told her she needed an abortion but they couldnt perform the procedure. They were a state owned hospital and abortions had recently been banned in state facilities by the Oregon State Legislature.(This was during the 1980s).”
Abortion is justified in that case. But what we will not tolerate is the wanton slaughter of living babies for the expediency of women that won’t keep their knees together and the sale and distribution of their body parts after the holocaustic murder.
Praying to their god Moloch, no doubt:
Dent consistently is the third-most pro-abortion Republican in the House, after Hanna and Dold (and, unlike Dold, he sits in a GOP district). He is militantly pro-abortion. He shouldn’t have been elected to that seat (previously held by Pat Toomey and pro-life Democrat Paul McHale) in the first place, and after that initial mistake, we should have gotten rid of him years ago.
That works, LOL! :)
I abhor abortion and especially the selling of baby parts as described. That said I see providing free birth control to keep women that are druggies and unequipped to support and have babies as a very reasonable public investment. I don’t know what birth control pills cost but it sure as heck must beat the cost of welfare and food stamps and all the other social costs that result from those ill equipped to parent.
Dang.
He didn’t even have a primary challenger the last 2 elections.
Everyone was hard to go after guys like Ralph Hall and John Boehner, but this jerk gets a pass?
block Planned Parenthood’s federal funding for one year, giving time for ....America to forget this little embarrassment!!!
The GOP won the senate after the last one. Do they realize that?
