The House on Friday voted along party lines to freeze federal funding for Planned Parenthood after weeks of escalating tension surrounding its use of fetal tissue.
In a 241-187 vote, nearly all Republicans and two Democrats approved legislation that would block Planned Parenthood's federal funding for one year, giving time for Congress to fully investigate claims of wrongdoing by the provider.
Lawmakers also passed a bill tightening restrictions on abortion doctors who violate infant protections in a 248-177 vote.
What weve learned about Planned Parenthood is appalling, barbaric and indefensible, Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) said.
Three Republicans broke ranks to vote against the funding freeze: Reps. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), Robert Dold (R-Ill.) and Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.). The Democrats voting to defund were Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), who are both opposed to abortion rights.
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) voted "present," objecting that the measure would allow Planned Parenthood to perform abortion in cases of rape, incest, and when the mothers life is at risk.

Over on Daily Kos, they are PRAYING for a Government Shutdown.
yep war against women. the republications treat women just like isis /s
Yup, delay for a year. Let the angry rabble calm down, then fund the program like normal. Easy Peazy!
Sounds like a job for Alfred E. McCain and the usual gang of idiots. :)
Get rid of abortion....period. Time to get it reversed. There can be no fundamental right to kill your baby. The concept is ridiculous.
“Yup, delay for a year. Let the angry rabble calm down, then fund the program like normal. Easy Peazy!”
Yep. SOP for our WEASEL GOPe!
Drain the swamp!
They did it on a Friday and its only a one year freeze in funding.
There was a time when you could get a Republican majority to vote to permanently defund Planned Parenthood and they would vote in the middle of the week when more people were paying attention.
This shows the political weakness of the GOP on this issue.
Leadership was forced to bring up this vote, but the bill was weakened to one year funding cutoff and done on a Friday when the general public doesn’t pay attention to things.
The Republicans treated PP funding like the Clintons treat incriminating documents. They dumped on a Friday.
Which will put it back on the table in the midst of the election campaign season.
Funny how Democrats are itching for another shutdown, since they never gained a single seat by the last ones.
Pathetic that McConnell fears a shutdown for something that has had ZERO effect on the elections
No, the concept is NOT ridiculous. There are reasons why sometimes a therapeutic abortion is necessary to save a woman’s life. It doesn’t happen often, and should ALWAYS be performed in a hospital after a medical panel review.
Abortion on demand resulted in profit centers based on murder.
What a charade!! CLOSE THIS LOUY GOVERNMENT DOWN TO STOP THE HOLOCAUST!!!
Lipinski is my Congressman, seems better than RINO Dold.
Any government that funds the practice of human sacrifice should be shut down.
Usually when people try to hide something, it’s because they are ashamed of what they are doing. What they ought to be ashamed of is not doing this sooner and now only voting for a one year freeze. They are trying to hide the vote so as not to irritate their handlers and bribers and puppeteers.
nearly all Republicans and two Democrats
amazing!
thanks
Time for another National SURGE!!
My sister was in a car accident when she was about 4-1/2 weeks pregnant. She told the doctor in ER that she believed she was pregnant but they just laughed at her and gave her pain meds anyway.
Two weeks later she started experiencing seizures. The baby had become toxic, had ceased developing and was no longer viable. The ER doctor told her she needed an abortion but they couldn’t perform the procedure. They were a state owned hospital and abortions had recently been banned in state facilities by the Oregon State Legislature.(This was during the 1980s).
So she went to an abortion clinic and had an abortion.
A year later during an election most of the Republicans were voted out of the Oregon State Legislature.
You can draw your own conclusions from this incident.
You seem to be drawing hints in the face of post hoc. Surely you were close enough to the incident to not hint but speak of the political battle and the misrepresentations and lies that surely flew around.
Sure sounds strange to go to an abortion clinic and not a comprehensive but non state hospital.
The doctors failed your sister; that is tragic, but she will see her sweet child later on down the road. God be with her.
