27-Year-Old Video of Donald Trump Surfaces. You'll Want to Watch This.

During a 1988 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump discussed the prospect of running for president someday, saying, “probably not, but I do get tired of seeing the country ripped off.”

Though the billionaire businessman admitted that he didn’t have “the inclination” to run, he also said he “would never want to rule it out totally” for the future.

“I just probably wouldn’t do it, Oprah. But I do get tired of seeing what’s happening with this country,” he said.

If Trump was fed up with the state of the nation back then, he must be livid now, which would certainly explain his move to throw his hat in the ring for a 2016 presidential bid.

If you want to stop Crony Capitalism, why not use someone who has used that system almost as well as the Congressmen themselves.

For same reason using Joseph Kennedy was a BAD IDEA...
Fighting corruption with the corrupt.. does not work..
ALL then becomes corrupt..

Two wrongs does not make a right.. ever..

The fight disease you MUST KILL the disease... not the patient..
Democracy is a political Disease.. with socialism as a symptom.. ALWAYS...

WHY?... the US COnstitution DOES NOT HAVE the word democracy or democrat in it anywhere...
ON PURPOSE.. the founders knew what democracy WAS... AND WASN’T..

Sadly most Americans DO NOT.. I doubt YOU DO!...

The Democrats have been nothing but stinking commies since at least the days of Woodrow Wilson.

We should have run them all out years ago.

From ‘The Art of the Deal’ The Donald wanted to go beyond what his real estate father accomplished and build grand style buildings. Mission accomplished— He did build that— compare that to the Community Dis-organizer currently screwing up the nation and world or any other DemRat hacks.
Trump has some chinks in the conservative armor but he’s got my support at this point.

As someone about Trumps age, I find it easy to believe his explanation as to why he’s running.

I’ve agonized over the America we are leaving for my own children and grandchildren to live in and raise their families in.

It hardly resembles the one I grew up in. It’s but a shadow of its former self.

Trump said he was running so that his family didn’t look at him, the family knowing he could have fixed it, but didn’t.

I think we are but the lucky side beneficiaries.

“Mike Dukakis has done a hell of a job?”

and Jesse Jackson, and George Bush. He was talking about the effort put into the campaigns and making it as far as they did leading up to the election.

"Q: What do you think of this year's presidential race, the way it's shaping up?" [he briefly describes how George HW Bush has a "little edge" in the election]

"...Jesse Jackson has done himself proud. Michael Dukakis has done one helluva job. And George Bush has done a helluva job. You know, they all went in there as semi-underdogs. Including, George Bush, and they've all come out. I think people who have been around all three of those candidates can be proud of the job they've done."

I'm not a Trump guy, but nitpicking and taking things out of context is a bit over the top.

Trumps family.. his father/mother ALL of his siblings ALL of his children most all of his close friends..

ARE devout flaming ultra-liberals.. what does that tell you?..

Nothing?.. or Something?..
You would think ONE OF THEM would be a least a little conservative..
Nope.. NOT ONE?..

It’s NOT what Trump says he will DO.. it’s what he will ACTUALLY Do that....... counts..

Who knows that?... Answer: NOBODY.. it’s like faith in GOD..
You either BELIEVE ....or.... YOU DON’T..

I DON’T... (in trump)..

The context doesn't help very much. I lived in Massachusetts in 1988 and followed Dukakis' governorship and presidential run. I don't remember it being "a hell of job."

And I forgot about Trump saying that Jesse Jackson had done "a hell of a job." Under what circumstances could that possibly be true?

Chinks is a way to put it.. true...
But I don’t see chinks.. I see glaring obnoxious “TELLS”..
That he is not “all he can be”.. meaning... CEO of America...
Like Benito Mussolini.. or even Joe Stalin..

He doesn’t have my support..

Here’s what’s going to happen. We’re all going to either figure out its all different now or get left wondering wha? just happened

Whose politics are what is now something that had been so taken over by the bush clintons and their donors that whatever you THINK someone’s politics are does not matter anymore. They are simply not working for us

Look at what’s going on today in the democrat party. Debbie bla bla bla shmutz is getting not heckled but railed against for not having debates

Hillary will NEVER debate ANYONE. Jeb like Romney McCain is there to help her. Watch him hang on for dear life like Algore did. When the clintons are involved there is no one getting taken care of. They’ll get paid but no

What anyone’s politics are are what they seem to be. The parties really have been destroyed.

Have you heard word one about fiorinas politics? Or Rubios?

Bill Buckley said vote for the most conservative. He was NOT speaking in the context tgat the donor class with its illegal immigration takeover and takeover of our both parties had taken place. Which it has

Right now there is no question that Trimp is the most conservative of those who could get elected Cruz will not get elected but he is on speaking terms wit trump who respects Cruz. Trump just for that is the most conservative

He might get in and go off crazy. So what? We KNOW. The rest WILL do that.

Rubio has zero business getting any attention after his gang oh right deal. Bush is a complete liberal but he is a major wimp first. Carson? Who the heck is he? Fiorina. A feminist with a noticed face completely expressionless what are her politics. Trump said who would vote for her. You think guys with ex wives are going to be cowered by her nasty whining into voting for her in the privacy of the booth? (I’m a woman btw)

Trumps politics are this- he’s going to get the country back

That’s all anyone should know. Reagans dead btw. Replaced by the bush who hated him and his policies most

Well, I’m not a Republican, so all those twits you named are all the same to me, establishment hacks.

Except Trump. He’s different, and he’s got the RNC/DNC/GOPe/CoC/OldMedia wetting their collective britches. And it’s not because he’s some closet commie. If he was they’d adore him. They don’t.

No thanks. That would be blind hero worship, and I want no part of that.

If there is one consistent conservative in the race who is not only making conservative arguments, but is grounded in conservative ideology it is Ted Cruz.

All candidates say they are going to "take our country back" That has to be the oldest campaign slogan in the book. Trump is not a consistent conservative, in fact, in 2012 he was blasting Romney for being too TOUGH on the issue of illegal immigration - not to mention the myriad of other positions "the Donald" has flip flopped on. And now Trump is suddenly the best on immigration when he was saying just the opposite a couple years ago? No, I am not willing to just buy that hook, line and sinker.

My problem with Trump is his position history is not conservative and does not warrant this rush to support him. It strikes me more as a populist cult of personality, and saddens me that so many conservatives just accept the times he "evolves" yet would never let any of the other candidates get away with the same.

This was a good video of Trump. It shows the that whatever his politics, he has been feeling the US has been being "ripped off" for 25+ years. That tells us one thing that has been driving him consistently for many years. The problem is, what are his solutions. If they are to cut corporate taxes, cut regulation, weaken labor unions, etc, then I would agree with him. But he is talking more like a populist protectionist and reading at least some from the leftist union Democrat playbook which argues for tariffs and generally limiting imports. That may make the UAW smile, but not me. Those kinds of policies would have had us driving the same shoddily produced big 3 automaker vehicles instead of creating the kind of competition that has finally made those manufacturers churn out some decent cars.

With all credit for writing this going to M1911A1, here is your answer:

At this point, I’d hardly care if in 2014 Trump had come out in support of almost any liberal cause.

The republic is dying. The libs are killing it, but guess who helps them? That’s right, the “conservatives” of the GOP!

You want to despise Trump for a former stance on abortion, when, as a private citizen, he could do little about it except write checks to politicians. I’m wagering it wasn’t a hot button donor issue for a guy focused on his empire.

Well how ‘bout that “conservative” Mitch McConnell, a man who could actually do something about it...it’s his job to do something about it, he was given power to do something about it. He did something today, he declared it was “futility” to defund Planned Parenthood, and this is only the latest in a long, long, and shameful list of outrages that have been either condoned or conducted by him and the other GOPe oligarchs.

You may dislike Trump, but remember that Mitch hates you if you are conservative, as do his masters, the big donors to Super Pacs. They only care about staying in power and growing government, and they trot out a conservative dog and pony show every once in a while to keep us yokels in line.

They have been busy changing the rules to make sure they are there forever, and if they lose to a Democrat, it’s no big deal, because they ultimately don’t differ all that much on the big issues.

Trump may strike you as too liberal, a braggart, a phony, or refreshing. It doesn’t matter. Supporting anybody else at this point is asking for the entrenched uniparty to keep abusing you. Trump is the only way out of this abusive relationship that is going to put your freedom in the grave.

After he upsets that applecart, we can start looking for someone better, but if we say no thanks to Trump the GOPe will figure out ways to make sure that no more challenges like his are ever mounted.

There are no guarantees that Trump is the real deal, or that even if he is that he can fix the crooked system, but if he doesn’t get that chance it is guaranteed that the crooked system will fix it so us annoying voters are even more irrelevant than we are now.

Trump has awoken them to the fact that even us dullards will only take so much, and once Trump exposes them, if they defeat Trump they won’t even have to put on the dog and pony show anymore.
