It’s Time to Pull the Plug on Dr. Ben Carson’s Campaign
Daily Beast ^ | 09/19/2015 | P. J. O’Rourke

Posted on 09/19/2015 10:00:42 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Ben Carson is brilliant and kind. Therefore, he has no business running for president.

There is nary a word to be said against Dr. Ben Carson. He is a soft-spoken gentleman of civilized refinement—broadly educated, highly skilled, widely accomplished, and universally respected. And he rose from a background of social adversity and economic deprivation that makes President Obama look like the lost Bush brother.

Thus Ben Carson makes us feel small. By “us” I mean the part of America filled with funk and failure. This is the America where political pundits reside.

We pundits have done our best to cut Ben Carson down to size. But we might as well be George Washington with the cherry tree if George had the body mass index of Kelly Ripa, George’s little hatchet were a butter knife, and the tree a mighty oak.

But George Washington couldn’t tell a lie, and we pundits can. Here, quoted from a recent AP political analysis piece, are two typical failed attempts to throw Ben Carson into the snark tank.

“...a gaffe-prone novice lacking a national profile and any significant political network.”

In other words Ben Carson is a person who says what he thinks, hasn’t spent decades screwing the pooch in Washington or flying his ass from the media flagpole, and he isn’t friends with the pack rats running through the sewers of democracy.

Agree. Just like the RNC keeps using the same old tactics.

He refused to do it. So his usefulness was at an end to the press and GOPEs. His support was a mixture of old Walker supporters, establiment astroturf, and pumped up polls from the press, so watch how quickly it craters.

At least you read the article. I don’t think more than 30% of the commenters did.

This one is classic O’Rourke. Full of curmudgeonly cynicism and apocalyptic pessimism.

I wasn’t interested in reading it until I noticed the name of the author. You can enjoy a new article by Mark Steyn just about any day. He’s beyond prolific and well into compulsive territory. But P.J.’s work shows up like a cool summer or warm winter’s day, to be savored in part because you know it will be awhile till the next one comes along.

George W. and Jeb’s heads might get conjoined...

That's a scary thought and it might already be happening before our eyes. Hopefully Carson can intervene before it's too late.

Louie; So you STILL have no knowledge of the political drama of the "Corker Bill"..
And I suspect don't want to know.. and if you did know would still be spreading "SMEARS".. and disinformation...

That's correct. Louie does not care what the truth is. I think Ted ran over his dog or something.

He doesn’t , but he is # 2 in most polls so should be in the top tier of the debate roster .

I was waiting for O’Rourke’s input. It was worth the wait.

True, but don't forget that just two weeks ago he was heralded as the source of RNC/GOPe money to "stop Trump." Remember all the stories? And he had gotten (gasp!) within five points of Trump in a couple of polls?

So in debate #2, as I keep insisting, Trump tactically really only had one goal. Squash the #2 guy, Carson. He didn't even need to attack him. Mission accomplished.

New #2 Fiorina is already being savaged by the drive-bys, which I think is a mistake on their part. They could get a few weeks out of the Fiorina version of the "stop Trump" express. So new #2 will be washed out of the polls in 10 days.

My prediction after the debate was that Trump would widen his lead over #2. That happened in one poll, didn't happen in another where Fiorina tied him. Watch for polls 3-10. She will slide instantly and Trump's lead will overall be bigger over #2 (whoever that is) than before.

I thought of surgeon general, but someone told me that wasn’t nearly powerful enough for him: HHS.

Apparently, sensible statements on gun ownership aren’t important to PJ. Carson uttered a statement so stupid that it disqualified him forever. Thinking so flawed that it’s a bizarre combination of Stockholm Syndrome and Jim Crow.

Carson has the ethics, morals, intelligence, and is simply a good wholesome individual.

However, I don’t think he has the vicious temperament required to stand “toe to toe” and have the bloody fight that will be necessary to defeat and change our corrupt government and all who come with it.

I really, really like him and respect him but to me, he simply is not ruthless enough to take the fight to them.

Trump on other hand is a “street brawling” seasoned fighter and will take the fight for the return and protection of our freedoms and liberties straight to the legislatures and supreme courts of both the states and the nation like a rabid dog.

RE: Surgeon General Dr Ben Carson-— who can help play a significant role in getting rid of OblahMaoCare.

Make that Secretary of the HHS.

Surgeon General would be a waste of his talents.
