Yeah that’s a winning position - there’s such an outcry to bring more muzzies here. Add in more illegal aliens too - big outcry for that.

It’s not a winning position among those blessed with a brain. But it *could* be a winning position for those who clamor for big government and the care and various blessings of all kinds they believe it can bestow on those less fortunate.

I think there is some aspect of society that wishes for a great big, munificent and all-encompassing government. I really do. And I urge you to try to think along those lines just as a thought experiment, what we (you and I) would perceive as a horrible thing, but just to try to get inside the heads of those who wish for it. This is not deep thinking, it is “somebody help me”.

For example, if you are a medium grade kid getting out of college with a load of debt and unable to buy a house and not finding any meaningful work....these kids want the government to step in. They haven’t worked, so they haven’t experienced that magical moment when one sees how much in taxes the government takes out. So the money for all these things just magically appears.

There is a part of society that accepts the huge influx of illegals and does not connect this giant influx as something that might threaten their livelihoods. In effect, the same type of envy that makes them hate industry and achievement makes them want to pity those less fortunate.

I’m obviously not telling you or anyone else to change their thinking if you happen to be conservatively oriented and by reading this forum, one imagines this is the case. But there are lots of people who believe the meme about the US being an evil country and capitalism being a rotten system and we need to spread around the stuff we must have stolen from those less fortunate. It’s white guilt on steroids.
