Admin Mod note: Title changed at source to Cruz: Carson's stance on Muslim presidents unconstitutional
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is criticizing GOP rival Ben Carson for saying that a Muslim should not be president of the United States.
At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday evening, Cruz said religious convictions should have no bearing on ones fitness for the Oval Office.
You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am constitutionalist, he said, according to The Des Moines Register.
My view, listen. The presidents faith is between him and God, the 2016 Republican White House hopeful added of President Obama. What Im going to focus on is his public policy record.

I admit I didn't hear it live, but based on the text I see absolutely no reference to Dr. Carson at all. I also see no rebuke.
To: BlatherNaut
I guess I missed the ‘rebuke’ part of the rebuke.
Besides, Carson is right: Islam and the US Constitution are completely incompatible.

Ben Carson improved his stock value by making a true statement which, while politically incorrect, is still true.
Those who pile on the good doctor will lower their stock value. There is no compatibility between Sharia law and the U.S. Constitution. Even the stooges at CAIR have gone on record admitting this.

The presidents faith is between him and God, the 2016 Republican White House hopeful added of President Obama. Correction: in Nobama's case, it's between him and Satan.

Cruz is right. No religious test.
Now what would likely happen is similar to what Kennedy with similar concerns about Catholics/Pope.
A muslim, though, would have to renounce much of Islam, or not be much of a muslim.
If you say, “well, muslim could lie about that,” a muslim could also lie about supporting Islam/Caliphate. Maybe we’ve already elected one of those.
But Cruz is correct, no religious test for public office, and should not be one.

cruz is about to lose me as there is no other discerning matter in my opinion!
But he's right when he says that the Constitution specifies that there be no religious test.
And whatever the president's faith, he's already been elected and reelected at this point. Let's just get him the heck out of there.

There is no compatibility between Sharia law and the U.S. ConstitutionYep, and good on those who make this point. Did Carson come out for a law or constitutional amendment to disallow muslims?

If this is true, then Cruz isn’t as smart as I thought. Why participate in a religion if one’s beliefs have no bearing on your most significant experiences: being president.
To: BlatherNaut
Carson said he would not advocate for a Moslem to be president.

I guess I missed the rebuke part of the rebuke.
Me too. According to at least the text of this story, there is absolutely no mention by Cruz of Carson and no rebuke whatsoever.
Just the media doing what the media does.
