Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign, according to three Republicans familiar with his decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Mr. Walker called a news conference in Madison at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Considering Walker was at 2% in the polls at that time, he wasn't hurt by that as much as his inability to articulate a vision, his waffling on immigration and his resulting panicked solution (I'm going to build a wall on the Canadian border - really???).

Having written that, Walker was my choice for many moons, but it didn't work out. His accomplishments are jaw dropping, his intestinal fortitude has been tested and is certified tough as nails, but for some reason, it did not transfer to a national audience.

I think there are going to be a lot of political science papers written about his campaign and what went wrong.

A number of people have wondered where his supporters will go. Well, the latest poll has him at one half percent, so his supporters have already scattered - there's not much left.

Kind of a shame, although it didn’t seem he was quite prepared for the intensity of national politics.

Walker's problem was that he was too cozy with the pro-amnesty Chamber of Commerce crowd, and that he hired the usual loser GOP-E beltway advisors.

I’m from Florida too, but I know what a weasel Marco is. He was shifty as Speaker of the House in Florida. He was a snake running for senate down here. As a senator he has been hand puppet shady for Chuck Schumer and Mark Zuckerberg. He resembles Mitt Romney in his love of lying. He promises the people of FL he’ll do one thing, but just like the other establishment elite republicans he sides with, once in office, he does the exact opposite.

You can keep being fooled if you want. He may fool some of you, but he’s not fooling all of us.

Dang. Why can’t poops like Bush or Christie quit instead of Walker? He just started late and quit early. Walker was one of my favs going in before the debates based on his political record.

That skit was hilarious. Poor Krispie thought he’d earn some good street cred, with that.

That was on Mackinac Island, MI, late last week or over the weekend. I actually met and had to put up with the two who are closest to Yeb! in that photo while in line at a coffee shop. And they are not ironic, nor angling for an easy-to-defeat Democrat, they actually want Sanders to win.

They tried to tell me that Trump had paid for his strong support from the MSM, such as NBC

All true, although he never was my choice as I had seen his immigration waffling early and waited to note his staying power after his pilgrimage to Jeff Sessions.

Frankly, my take is that he hired too many consultants and made the mistake of listening to them. Same thing happened to Matt Bevin when he ran against McConnell.

Were I in his position, I would have worked out my position papers before announcing, worked out how I would deal with the noise on every one of them, posted them all at once, and stuck with them. To me, the key to being a successful candidate is education, study, and preparation to the point that one believes in the message and can explain it to anyone. That's what Reagan did while he was touring plants for GE. Reagan not only understood what made America great, he then went back and studied the underlying principles to the point that he didn't need to remember them. It's what I was hoping Palin would do after 2008. Instead she thought being a cheerleader would be sufficient to carry her through.

Walker said “make our country great again” in his speech. I doubt he knew what he was saying thus his early exit. I doubt he supports Trump hell support one of the rings imo

America’s Loss. A sad day for the United States. Never really was appreciated for the good he did for his state and what he wanted for the country. Oh well.....I am not interested in this election anymore. The rest are big phony talkers.

Walker had the decency to suggest other low polling candidates (cough Graham, Jindal, Huck, Pataki) drop out to allow focus on viable candidates (my words, not his).

I honestly thought prior to the debates that Walker had a good shot at being the nominee.

It’s a shame he was forced out before many of the other losers, but I guess he saw the writing on the wall.

Exactly. Sad that it is Walker, however, it appears he lost almost all of his support to Trump which I find odd.

I love Kasich in there, because he helps split the vote with Jeb! and Christie.
