Ted Cruz deemed Harry Reid as the head of the Republican Senate on Tuesday.
Cruz told reporters after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced a resolution to temporarily fund the government that he felt the Kentucky Republican was no longer the leader of the body where the GOP holds an eight-seat majority.
"The position of Republican leadership boils down to this: They will support 100% of the priorities of Democrats," said Cruz, a Republican who is running for president. "Today, the leader in the Senate is Harry Reid because Republican leadership has said nothing will pass without Harry Reid's support. Today, the leader is the House is Nancy Pelosi."
Senate leadership has frustrated Cruz's attempt to permanently defund Planned Parenthood, which is under attack for secretly taped, edited videos that have tarnished the women's health group, as part of current budget talks. Republican leaders have said they have no appetite for risking a Cruz-led shutdown that would defund the organization.
Cruz has made Republicans his foil just as often as he has Democrats -- often criticizing the "McConnell-Reid leadership team" -- but the Texas senator's blast is the latest signal that his fight with top Senate Republicans is intensifying as the Sept. 30 budget deadline approaches. Republicans said Tuesday that Cruz did not attend the conference's regular lunch.
Democrats and Republican legislators are at a budget logjam over whether to continue public funding to Planned Parenthood. The White House has said they will not sign a budget that cuts funding for the organization, which funds women's health services beyond abortions, but congressional Republicans have said that defunding the group remains a top priority. Republican leadership, nervous about the political ramifications of a shutdown, are frustrated by conservatives -- like Cruz -- who want to stare down Democrats.

Cruz is the greatest
Cruz tells it like it is. And he isn’t afraid to do so.
Go Cruz Go!!
I don’t see what is so hard for Congress with the same party having majorities in both houses to say Mr. Pres, if you don’t sign the bills you get no money. That is if the houses weren’t run by 4 democrats.
I mostly agree with you but Trump is my first choice, and I’ve been hoping to see Cruz as his VP since the day he announced.
I like Cruz a lot, but for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on I’ve always felt he’s not quite ready to be head honcho. Unless things change a lot, Cruz won’t get the nomination, the establishment GOOP wants anybody BUT Trump or Cruz. They will do anything, including cheat, to keep them both out.
For now, Cruz is not taking much incoming, it looks like the press and GOP are both just trying to ignore him and hope we do too. Trump is also taking a lot of incoming for everybody.
So far Trump is still out front, if he can stay there and start giving us some specifics, I’d be really pleased to see Trump/Cruz when I go to pull the lever...
Trump/Cruz. It’s what God wrought. It’s up to us to take what’s given.
I forgot...
I know it’s wishful thinking, but they should pass a budget defunding PP and make Obama veto it. Make him be the one to shut things down.
I’m sure they would still figure out a way to blame it on Republicans...
-or- why they’re afraid of the confrontation.
Yes, they will get beat up by the media for the shutdown, but if not that, the media will beat up on them for something else. You would think, for once and for all, they’d want to confront the media bully that’s always stealing their lunch money.
Besides, the election is 13 months away— in the interim other events will take center stage— no one’s going to vote based on a shutdown that occurred the year before.
The IMPOTENT GOPe.
CRUZ is RIGHT!
Cruz is my guy!
Ted Cruz/Trump For President. Ted Can not do much in Congress unless we elect a lot more Tea Party Conservatives into the job! WE need to flush out the RINO-GOPe and replace it with A) a new Republican Party (A lincoln Party) or B) Dump it and replace it with the Liberty Party (or any other 3rd party that now existes. Run Citizen Politicians to replace the elites and their lobbiest masters.
bump
Old men don't grow them.
Pretty amazing what the GOP has become since Reagan.
The President of the Senate has allot of influence working with the leaders of the Congress, Cruz can be very effective in getting rid of Mitch the B*tch and John of Orange Tears.
Thanks and good to hear from you.
Mitch Lott is useless as usual.
I think you meant AWOL, but just in case (pun intended.;)
