If drug companies cannot recoup research money and a profit. They will no longer exist. They cut research and there will not be new drugs at any price.
I agree with you. Why have insurance to pay for a checkup or minor health costs? If we had car insurance to pay for oil changes, imagine how much it would cost.
My father worked for RCA from before GE bought it, through the Thomson ownership, till right before it was bought by the Chinese. It was run in the same way you describe and he too bought stock. Unfortunately for him he didn’t dump it before all those short sighted decisions finally caught up and tanked the company.

ObamaCare was *intended* to fail, so as to create the “need” for the single-payer, government-only system that the Left has wanted all along.
I would just replace it with a pay-as-you-go system rather than single-payer government insurance.
If you don't have the money, then take out a loan.
I no one will loan you the money then the government will be required to be the loaner of last resort.
The government collects interests on all those who pay back their loans and only loses money when the patient dies before paying back the loan.
If this is the only expense the government has to pay then I think that would be much cheaper than the total cost of Medicare, Obamacare, etc.
