Ailes ‘Furious’ at National Review’s Lowry for Forcing Fox to Cede ‘Moral High Ground’ to Trump

The Fox News Channel’s top executive, Roger Ailes, is “furious” at the National Review’s editor Rich Lowry for using foul language in an attack on GOP frontrunner billionaire Donald Trump on Wednesday evening, Breitbart News has learned.

An individual with knowledge of these matters told Breitbart News that Ailes is “furious” at Lowry for saying on Megyn Kelly’s program The Kelly File on Wednesday that former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina “cut [Trump’s] balls off with the precision of a surgeon, and he knows it, he knows it.”

Ailes is mad at Lowry because this move means, in the ongoing war between Fox News and Trump, Fox News has now “given up the moral high ground.” Essentially, Ailes understands, that means his network looks like the unfair aggressor that Trump has accused it of being—rather than a neutral arbiter of the news—all while Trump continues soaring in the 2016 GOP primary polls.

New York Magazine’s Gabe Sherman, the author of an anti-Ailes book, wrote on Thursday that the war between Trump and Fox News won’t end anytime soon.

“By now it should be clear to both sides of the Donald Trump–Fox News war that there never was — nor will there likely be — an enduring truce,” Sherman wrote.

Sherman’s piece came in response to the latest development, from Ailes, that Ailes has—after Trump decided that for now he will boycott Fox News shows in response to negative coverage of his presidential campaign—planned a meeting with Trump to discuss Fox’s coverage of him.

As we have seen over the last several years, the Establishment and it's allies get VERY nasty when their power structure is threatened!!

Trump has Ailes and Fox News by the short hairs, and now they are about to get the fetch up. Roger will soon wish he never set femino-nazi Megan Kelly on to Trump.

I’m really not sure how this is going to turn out.

If Trump makes peace a second time with Ailes and is burned again he is going to look foolish if not naive. Trump surely understands that. He will want Ailes to kiss his ring and I doubt if that is going happen.

If Ailes calls off the dogs then he is going be seen as weak and as letting Trump push Fox News around. Not a good image for Fox or Ailes. CNN and MSNBC will have a ball running “Has Fox Gone Soft on Trump” segments.

There is no good answer to this that will make both of these guys happy.

Fox get it together.

For years and years, Fox has been the network which is up and coming.

Now I won’t watch it. Fox or Fox Business. I watch the local Fox affiliate, that is it. And a (bunch) of their competitors.

Turn your network around, include Trump, or ... well don’t, and watch your entire viewership erode.

I’m completely series.

I was flipping back and forth between EWTN and CNN last night to watch the Pope. CNN had great coverage. FOX not so much... they went to O’Reilly.

I thought Fox had a 5-15 second pause/gap before going live which gave them the opportunity to bleep an accidental curse work. I'm pretty sure I have seen words bleeped on The Five.

If that is the case, Ailes should be angry at the producer and not Lowry.

Fox had the entire Prayer Service at St Patrick’s Cathedral during the Greta show. They went to O’Reilly because the services ended and the Pope left.

Good point, and he may be angry at the producers AND Lowry......but the only public interest is Lowry V Trump, not Ailes V his internal staff.

CNN stayed with the Pope until he went to the house of the papal nuncio where he spent the night. Just saying.

Trump fighting with Fox News should win him many liberal supporters as they’ve always hated Fox.

It’s about control. I’ve never had the sense that Hannity or Greta have this desire to be incontrol of the guest or a candidate. BOR and Kelly want control. They want to look like the big shots, they aren’t.

I’d love to see their network cut down to size. I’ve stopped watching. After what upteen years? It was the only station I had on.

Lowry is two bit punk, who hasn’t cared for Trump from the beginning.

BOR says on his show that Trump has less than 25% of winning. Kelly has half her show each night with Trump bashers on it.

These are facts.

Pretty sad when ‘Fair and Balanced’ and ‘We Report, You Decide’ better describes Naked News than anything in the MSM.

Since I no longer watch the Kelly File, I listened to the audio of what Lowry said. Kelly's "surprise" sounded rehearsed. IMHO, the whole incident was set up. Everyone knows Kelly has been using surrogates to get her Trump digs in.

I hope Trump stays away from Fox.

Ailes has sent the whole herd after Trump. I don’t think they even mentioned Trumps name on the air yesterday.

This has to do with only one thing, a fear of ratings drop because he is the front runner and nothing more.

Yep... Megyn is what you get when you cross a bimbo with a lawyer
