Rep. Peter King, a Republican from New York, says Tea Party Republicans like Texas Sen. Ted Cruz are to blame for the resignation of House Speaker John Boehner.
I think he could of been influenced by the pope being here yesterday and that its just time to end the fighting thats gone on, the needless fighting thats gone on, King said to radio host John Grambling on Friday. But having said that Im disappointed. I think John was as good as a speaker that you could find and hes undermined by people in his own party from day one. Its truly tragic.
King singled out people like Cruz as the culprits of Boehners demise.
Yes. Yes, people like Ted Cruz, who believe in shutting down the government, want to shutdown the Department of Homeland of Security at a time when the ISIS has been highest, added King, saying Boehner couldnt get much done because there was a Democratic president and a Democratic Senate.
Whenever the tough decisions had to be made, John made them, said King. And at every stage though, he was undercut by people in his own party. And theres 40 or 50 and thats it. A small minority, but they were willing to hijack and blackmail the party.
King said California Rep. Kevin McCarthy would probably be speaker, but the Ted Cruz-people would push for an ally as Majority Leader. King said he found it really offensive there was a push to remove Boehner.
He deserved better than this, added King. I feel kinda bad for him. Hes probably better off.
The Long Island Republican, who earlier called Boehners resignation a victory for the crazies on social media, said those who opposed Boehner had unrealistic expectations.
I mean seriously they basically want to shut the government down over the whole issue of Planned Parenthood, King said. The National Right to Life Committee and the most pro-life members of Congress say that shutting down the government would not advance the cause of the anti-abortion movement whatsoever.
But these guys have latched onto that as a reason to, they were going to basically attempt to remove the speaker if he was not able to get Planned Parenthood defunded even though the president would veto the bill and the Senate would not be able to pass it and that in that case we should shut the government down.
And thats why I said it was a victory for the crazies, he concluded.
That’s because Boehner gave in on everything. He’d start with a good statement but then he could never carry it out. I don’t think he’s necessarily evil, just seriously incompetent and weak. Glad he’s gone, in any case.
Yeah, compromise is fine but you have to enter negotiations thinking about how much you can gain rather than how much you can afford to lose.
Peter King is just a mouth with no intellect to back it up or control it.
and... WE VOTE !!!!
LOL!!!
McConnell SHOULD be next in a FAIR world!
As Mark Levin pointed out yesterday from a number of polling questions, the “crazy” few are the ones who support Boehner, King, McConnell and the GOP establishment.
The same Rep. Peter King who strongly supported TAX CHEAT Charles Rangel when it was exposed that Rangel had not paid a significant amount of his taxes for the past SEVENTEEN years.
It’s all politics. Isn’t it, Peter.
That is hilarious!
If the Republican Party is just like the Democrat Party, we hijacked it. If the Republican Party stands for the things it traditionally stands for, they hijacked it.
So it is a SENATOR’s fault that someone in the HOUSE resigned, eh?
Man, if Ted Cruz has THAT kind of influence, Peter ought to endorse him NOW.
Peter King is really becoming tedious. I wish he’d retire.
I seem to recall that he has made some other very strange pronouncements before. But then maybe he is just a stupid jerk.
Boehner’s fall is the result of surrender monkeys siding with the Democrats all the time! ENOUGH!!!!!!
Go, Cruz, GO!! Great work!!
Peter, you Dick, You are so incompetent that it's hard even to begin describing the ineptitude of your fitness for the job you have faked for so long.
You display as much competence for your job as the hack who wrote this pathetic article: I think he could of been influenced by...
Seriously?
I think John was as good as a speaker that you could find and ...
Seriously?
Allowing mental midgets like Pelosi and Harry Reid to outmaneuver your party procedurally for years does not speak well of even your competence as a neophyte.
As for blackmail, I have no doubt that it has played a major role--- as applied by the "opposition." The incompetence of your whining GOPe is breathtaking.
You’re next, King.
