Ben Carson ties Donald Trump in race for GOP 2016 nomination: poll (NBC/WSJ)

Ben Carson has surged into a statistical dead heat with Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination, a new poll shows.

According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, Trump still leads the race, with the support of 21% of Republican primary voters across the U.S., but Carson follows with 20% — well within the poll’s 6-percentage-point margin of error.

Just weeks ago, Trump was still the clear front-runner but Carson has been steadily gaining on him since Trump’s average performance in the second Republican debate earlier this month.

And just one month ago, in the July NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Carson attracted only 10% support, compared with Trump’s 19%.

In the latest poll, former tech exec Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tied for third, both getting 11% support, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in fourth with 7%.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz followed with 6% and 5%, respectively, while no other candidate received more than 3% support.

Meanwhile, NBC/Wall Street Journal polling of the Democratic candidates, also released Sunday, showed their race for the nomination tightening too.

Most polls right now show Trump in the 28-32% range. They show Carson in the 9 to 12% range.

According to the RealClearPolitics compilation of polls, most polls right now have Trump at 21-26% and Carson at 14-20%.

Carson’s attitude towards Afghanistan is a show stopper for me.

Highlights:

1. This poll if of Registered Voters who say they are going to vote in the GOP primary. 230 Registered Voters claimed that.

2. Carson +10 from last month, Fiorina +11, Rubio +7.

Trump +2 and still leading.

But, according to darn near every politicl story out there, "Trump is slipping in the Polls"!

Of the base pool of "Registered Voters", (the base pool number was not identified), 230 said they would vote in the GOP primary and that's the mini-pool these numbers came from.

Even if Trump was showing 51% I would say this poll is complete crap. "http://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/nbc-wsj-poll-2016-gop-race-n433991

No way is Ben tied with Trump. Where are the Ben Carson rallies with thousands attending?

Truth is, there aren’t any.

I attended one last February with about 3,000, standing room only

it was a cold February night with blowing snow. I saw cars from 50 miles away

for those of you in Rio Linde, February was before the start of Trump mania

Boy, Cruz summed it up nicely.

WSJ another Murdoch propaganda outlet ruined by Murdoch's two left wing nutter sons.

A cheap labor express- crony capitalist newsletter now thanks to these foreigners trying to manipulate our elections again !

If Trump- Cruz win then I would recommend all Murdoch media operations be investigated .We have a right to know what these foreigners were doing with Barry and VJ and the Saudis owners input at Fox News plus all there coordinated attacks on Trump and Cruz in all there other media outlets like Sky Dews or NYPost ...
In England , The Murdoch's were arrested for there out of control media activities

No one denies he is a good man. I just don’t want a President with his views. Maybe it is that he is good that he would allows us to be overrun by illegals or step into matters like the Michael Brown situation when the President has no business second guessing a law enforcement situation he has never faced. As a healthcare professional myself I understand where one’s natural impulse is to care for but that is not what America needs now when we are overrun by illegals and crime rates are climbing.

The polls will change after the CNBC debate on the economy.

Carson: ok doctor but knows nothing about jobs and economy.

Rubio: a lightweight, shuffles papers behind a desk, can't even mange his own credit card.

Fiorina: ran Lucent and HP in the ground.

Jeb: low energy, not up to the task, his tax plan doesn't go far enough.

It’s early, the media has been going hard against Trump on every station and on FOX 24/7. Every comment, every report, every interview is tinged with sarcasm or blatantly anti-Trump.

Remember that the establishment wants Bush.

Who will be next in line if Trump falls? It will be Carson because he lacks experience, because of this or because of that. Then it will be Fiorina because of all the reasons we’ve posted. Then it will be Cruz, and then no one will be left but Bush.

And we have plenty of time for all that to take place.

your focus is way too tight. you concentrate on your very narrow biases and fail to see the whole

the whole of Dr Carson is great. even fantastic!

He is not going to take people’s guns. He is going to close the border and get the best immigration change possible through congress.

You should hunt up some of his speeches and listen to the unexpurgated truth not run through the media you read.

It does not require a president to be a brain surgeon..... but if a brain surgeon volunteers, we should take him up on his offer

There has to be ONE conservative candidate after New Hampshire. More Conservatives in the running who get higher than a couple of % will give the nomination to Bush because one conservative won't get eight majorities in primaries. Trump and only Trump so far has shown that he can bull through the things that must be done if the Republic is to survive. We need for all the rest to drop out early and Cruz to be signed on as Trump's running mate. Trump can falter in his presentation and prove not to be the man but it is highly unlikely that any of the others can change up to the force of character necessary for a successful turnaround. Others, especially Cruz, have better backgrounds in the Constitution and have been longer Conservatives but they are unlikely to be able to do the job. I believe it will take someone as big and brash and loud as Trump to successfully intimidate the Republican Establishment into allowing someone other than their own chosen one to get the nomination, no matter what the delegate count or how many primaries are won.The RNC made the rules to pretty much guarantee that no conservative is likely to win majorities in the required number of primaries to be even entered into the nomination process at the convention. If Bush gets majorities in the requisite 8 states where he is expected to get those majorities no matter who else is in it, that is all he needs. He doesn't need a single vote in any other primary to be the nominee. And if he doesn't get those eight majorities and the winner of all the rest is other than Rubio a judge will rule that Bush goes to the Convention anyway. At the convention the RNC superdelegates are sufficient to nominate the gope man unless a conservative has won 8 majority votes and a huge majority of all the regular delegates and has a very aggressive public attack.
