I'm in South SF, been watching it for the last hour. Crystal clear sky, unusual around here during celestial sky events. Started low on the horizon but around 8:15 pm PST was viewable at a high enough angle while still a bloody red.
It was hiding behind a stand of redwoods...
I have since seen it.
I think a lot of the fascination is that people are actually actively looking at something...that is being shared around the world.
Oh, shoot! I didn’t read this, until just now. We went out to look at the moon, around 8:15, but I couldn’t see it, because of all the trees. Just went out, and I missed everything. Dagnabit!
Was cloudy here in SE TX, too.
Bew hew.
That's a thought I missed. Usually I skip these things because it's usually obscured by clouds, fog or rain. We got lucky this time with clear skies. My wife told me to go look. My cats were having fun outside, I think the eclipse made them crazier than usual. Nearly tripped because they untie my shoe laces while I looked skyward. Neighbor was telling his kids to enjoy it now, because the next time he'll be an old man. Shoot, I might not be around, so I'm glad I caught this eclipse instead of regrets of missing it afterwards. Seeing it puts the insignificance of us mere humans in perspective.
The dates for the next lunar tetrad like we saw tonight is
25 April 2032 will be seen from the Far East and Australia
18 October 2032 will be seen from Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe, Russia, and the Far East
14 April 2033 will be seen Africa, Antarctica, the Middle East, India, and the Far East
8 October 2033 will be seen Japan, Australia, Alaska, and the west coast of the USA.
There will be other tetrads in 2043, and 2050.

SOLAR ECLIPSE ALERT!
There will a very complete solar eclipse on 21 August 2017 with maximum totality at 11:21 a.m. PDT/2:21 p.m. EDT (6:21pm UTC). The dark part will transit the USA through OR, ID, WY, NE, KS, MO, KY, TN, GA, SC, and NC. It will be very dark or completely dark near the center of the path of transit.
The August 2017 eclipse will be the first with a path of totality crossing the USA’s Pacific coast and Atlantic coast since 1918.
The Greatest Eclipse (is defined as the instant when the axis of the Moon’s shadow cone passes closest to Earth’s center.) point will be over western KY near Hopkinsville.
The Greatest Duration (is defined as the instant when the length of the total (or annular) phase reaches a maximum along the central path of a solar eclipse.) point will be over southern IL just south of Carbondale and not far from Cape Girardeau, MO and Paducah, KY. Complete totality should last about 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

Make your plans now to be there and watch it!
I saw the it during the period that it was reddish...not so much after that.
Im hoping that NASA has a huge ‘’’aka; closeup” time lapse video available
I will be in central Missouri at that time — hot dog.
Thanks.
Luck of the draw, I guess ...
many thanks for the info; bookmarking....
I got early pictures about 9:30. After that, the sky was just one big black cloud. Disappointed.
I’m in Sebring. We had loads of clouds too. Got a lucky clear patch of sky, but still a little hazy.
Thanks
So instead of bleu cheese, it’s likely made of Red Leicester.
That’s beautiful.
That was taken by an aviation photographer who is a friend of a friend. :)
