Boehner's resignation may avert shutdown but emboldens renegades in GOP
LATimes ^ | 9/27/15 | Lisa Mascaro

Boehner’s surprise decision to quit as speaker of the House all but ensures that Congress will avert an immediate crisis — another government shutdown — but strengthens the renegade Republicans who helped topple him and brought turmoil to the establishment GOP.

In the halls of Congress and on the presidential campaign trail, the Republican Party is undergoing an ideological and practical revolt. The insurrection is driven partly by grass-roots activists angry at the failure of mainstream Republican leaders to thwart President Obama’s agenda, and partly by a fierce determination to redefine the party’s future.

In the near term, ironically, the power struggle will produce a political compromise that will show Washington still can function.

By announcing he will step down next month, Boehner sacrificed himself for institutional stability. Now he can ignore the hard-right caucus that wants to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood and that is willing to shut the government down on Wednesday, for the second time since 2013, rather than give in.

Because Obama has vowed to veto any bill that cuts off money for the country's largest family-planning provider, Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have few options except to reach across the aisle for Democratic votes to keep the government running...

It's the sort of bipartisan compromise that has always defined Washington's ways — and that infuriates the GOP’s no-compromise wing..

Several dozen conservatives in Congress who had repeatedly sought to oust Boehner were emboldened by his decision to surrender rather than keep fighting.

The most conservative faction calls itself the House Freedom Caucus and shares common cause with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). Its members see validation in a presidential race in which Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina — are clobbering establishment favorites in the polls.

Cochran in Mississippi was the new GOP-e paradigm— open and brazen appeal to Dems promising them more government spending, in exchange for their votes to beat a small gov’t conservative.

Now’s the time to have it out. There’s an opportunity here. Today, Cruz called on all GOP candidates to come to DC and fight PP and Iran.

He doesn’t need them all- just Trump, Carson and, (gulp), Carly (if she can avoid collapsing curtains). Together they represent 60% of the GOP vote, probably more.

The war is to take over the GOP- it can start now while the GOP-e is in retreat. Ted and crew can pressure those vile, cowardly Congressman into electing a conservative Speaker (e.g Ken Cuccinelli, Col. West, others). They can pressure the defunding of PP and Iran.

The over whelming majority of the GOP representatives are sheep— no principles, no convictions- they will instantly transmute into Goldwater conservatives if it means saving their own necks. They just have to be led.

This can be like the overthrow of Gorbachev by the Yeltsin crowd.

One thing though Donald— just let Ted do the talking

"One thing though Donald— just let Ted do the talking "

Why do we need a bombastic ass as a go-between?
Why not simply put Ted in charge?

Oh, and how did Carly Fiorina ever get to where she’s considered a “conservative?”

I don’t think she is— But she is against the PP and Iran, and she’s in favor of the shutdown, So here she can help, imo.

“Renegade”... “Extremists”... “Far right.”

In other words, people who don’t vote our way all the time despite calling themselves Republicans.

Ted can’t raise the money.

Trump can use his own.

“Now he can ignore the hard-right caucus that wants to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood and that is willing to shut the government down on Wednesday...”

There was a LANDSLIDE victory. The House of Representatives was won by Republicans. Republicans are funding every penny of the government EXCEPT Planned Parenthood.

It is the decision of Barak Hussein Obama to shut down the government because he wants to continue killing innocent babies.

So, since Obama will shut down the government unless he gets exactly what he wants, Republicans are responsible for the shutdown? ....... ....

Renegades. The folks who want to restore the party to its conservative roots are now “renegades.”

What a crazy world we live in today.

Yes, obama is threatening to shut down the government if republicans stop sending $500 million to a private company (planned barrenhood).

Any government that is in the business of slaughtering millions of innocent babies (and now selling their parts) should be shutdown! Shut it down and keep it shut down until this evil American Holocaust is ended.

Boehner warned in biblical terms that his party is being influenced by “false prophets” who set unrealistic political expectations that no one can meet.

BULLS**T! The DemocRATS, with the help of RINOs in the GOP, never have trouble meeting their expectations because the GOP establishment gives in. LET OBAMA VETO EVERY BILL THAT COMES TO HIM..... It's on him. The people we elect to fight for us need to stand strong.

Trump was awesome on “60 Minutes” last night. And he does have specific plans for once he takes office. He gave a little preview of what’s to come. Just you wait!
