Abrogation is the only method of reconciling the contradictory things that mohammed said.

In Islam there is the law of abrogation that establishes that the last Surah nullify the previous Surah when they are in contradiction. In the beginning, when the Muslims were a small minority they preached peaceful coexistence with other religions. As soon they were strong Islam called for the forced conversion of the infidels to Islam, remain as third class citizens paying a heavy tax, or being put to death.
I would imagine that countries who subscribe to Sharia law, etc. would find it impossible to live under a constitutional republic of the kind we would like to see established in their midst. Some people actually *do* prefer slavery to freedom. Actually, I am ignorant of our attempts to democratize Iraq and Afghanistan. What are we trying to do there? Are we insisting that they live under a Constitution just like ours?
