O’Reilly To Critics Of ‘Killing Reagan’: ‘We Just Portrayed Him As A Man,’ Not ‘As God’

Bill O’Reilly is out with what will almost assuredly be a new bestselling book — and the Fox News host is not backing down from the criticism that has already been leveled or is likely to come.

In “Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency,” O’Reilly and his co-author Martin Dugard explore Ronald Reagan’s life and presidency, with a special focus on John Hinckley’s attempted assassination in 1981 of the 40th president. But the book has already drawn some criticism from the right for, among other things, presenting Reagan as sometimes mentally incapable of performing his duties as president and suggesting his wife Nancy Reagan was a key driving force during his presidency.

“Well, I think we were pretty clear that by every account, Reagan had his good days and his bad days,” O’Reilly told The Daily Caller. “Nobody disputes that. On his bad days, he couldn’t work. On his good days, he was brilliant.”

In fact, O’Reilly says, a report commissioned by his staffers at the time concluded that some days he just watched “soap operas all day long” and “didn’t even come down from the residence.”

O’Reilly says his critics are just upset that he didn’t present Reagan “as God.”

"O’Reilly says his critics are just upset that he didn’t present Reagan “as God.”

Just finished the book. I thought "Killing Jesus" was bad. But this one is worse. O'Reilly portrays Ronald Reagan as an idiot and Nancy as the one who really ran the show. Lord, I hope this piece of garbage is not made into another movie to make O'Reilly richer. It could have been written by a Reagan-hating leftist. Maybe it was. It's just bad. Bay Buchanan interviewed O'Reilly over the weekend and took him to task over the book. I'll be waiting on her brother's review and I guarantee he will mince no words in putting it down.

We would be better off if The Ayatollah would watch soaps all
Day instead of thinking up more mischief.

Liberals always rewrite history to minimize popular figures not in their favor.

O’Riley is a flaming liberal. Simple math.

O'Reilly needs to return to his roots.

All his books have been ghost-written. He has neither the time nor the inclination to do the research etc. with the possible exception of autobiography.

His ratings are a mystery to me since his knowledge of any issue rarely goes beyond a headline or a cliche.

Does anyone here still watch that show? I wouldn’t even think abut watching that Anti 2A idiot.

In fact, I don’t watch tv network news at all. If it’s not on FR, then I don’t need to know about it—LOL!

Doesn’t sound as if it is worth reading. Why did you bother? So who supposedly said he was watching soap operas all day long in the White House residence.

I won’t read this tripe. No president was, nor, ever will be perfect. By design, by our founders, we do not anoint a king. Reagan was far from perfect, but Obama is an utter disgrace who makes Carter logical! This country needs to go forward in a conservative vector so to bring the United States back to its core. WE NEED ANOTHER REAGAN!

Why do research when you are going to write fiction?

I read history books written by John Toland, Cornelius Ryan, and William Manchester. Those authors spent years researching and writing each book. O’Reilly always has another book for sale just in time for the next holiday.

FoxNews is making sure that conservatives quit watching. I guess Billy Boy is showing his true self.

O’Riley is a flaming liberal.

Bill O'Blowhard is a full-bore communist. Remember when he viciously attacked the domestic oil industry a few years back. He hates companies who are profitable...just like his hero Karl Marx. Given his northeast elistist background and his years at Harvard, it's not surprising that BOR is a commie.

Well, ok, I did watch Cruz on Meghan once.
No more.

Bill is a see you next Tuesday who knows no life west of Henry’s little estuary

I think I could whip him

Same age and size

I’ve likely got more experience

I’ll have to wear some pads for the pacemaker

Other than that I’d love to beat him down

I could avenge all the women he’s been a dick to

There are only two rocks to stand on, and O’Reilly is presently on the one that doesn’t survive.

and his years at Harvard,

For what? An MPA from the Kennedy School of Gub'mint?

Of course he thinks he knows better than any and all voters.
