Guess I can’t eat at Taco Bell anymore either...wouldn’t want to get in trouble calling it “Mexican Food”!

Actually if recall. In the movie Demolition Man. All restaurants in the ultra politically correct future are called Taco Bell.

So if we celebrate other cultures or emulate other cultures, we are racist? Seems bass ackwards to me.

At the SU we want all members feel safe and accepted, so at all events we try to ensure that there is no behaviour, language or imagery which could be considered racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or ableist.Or, above all, intelligentist.

They'd better pass the word down south! Way south!
I was in Playa del Carmen, Mexico last week and they were selling souvenir ("A souvenir (from French, for a remembrance or memory), memento, keepsake, or token of remembrance is an object a person acquires for the memories") sombreros at the street kiosks, Walmart, Chedraui (Mexican version of Walmart, the airport gift shop in Cancun...Everywhere!

I would pretend to be a campus diversity officer there and go around handing tickets to minorities wearing pants, telling them that it is racist for them to wear a traditionally European article of clothing.
To: Arm_Bears
SoDo Mexicans not wear sombreros?
Sure...just like all present-day residents of New England wear tricorn hats. It's part of the local garb, don'cha know? If you live in Boston or Providence, you wouldn't think of leaving the farmhouse without your tricorn hat, any more than you would forget to feed your horse before riding into town.
But seriously, folks...while there must be one guy somewhere in Michoacan or Oaxaca wearing a sombrero today, it's not a common variety of headwear these days. You see a lot of sterotypical media images of Mexicans wearing sombreros, but other than that one guy down in Jalisco who wears one every day for whatever reason, you don't see that many people wandering around under a sombrero.
