Donna Shalala, the former president of the University of Miami who was brought in to lead the Clinton Foundation this year, had a stroke shortly after the closing ceremonies of the organization’s major fall event early Tuesday evening, officials said.
Ms. Shalala, 74, fell ill after departing the closing events around the Clinton Global Initiative, which was held at the Sheraton New York hotel on Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, according to a statement from foundation officials.

You are normal with normal interests; they are not.
Where she tried to regulate free speech, IIRC.
Well Sha La La, evil is truck down.
Oh! was I supposed to be sympathetic???
I’d say this is mighty suspicious, if it weren’t mighty suspicious. Deleting people’s memories as easy as deleting a hard drive.
Good.
I'm all broke up about it myself....she probably has many fond memories
of the Foundation when she came in and did a thorough look at the books.
Every time some “medical news” came up in the past, FReepers were able to put enmity aside and see the shared humanity. Thoughts and prayers for well-being were the reaction.
It wass what made us superior to the left.
Good Lord! I can’t believe the responses :)
Tough audience. I’ve always been too soft and I feel bad for anyone who has a stroke, with the exception of three or four people :)
And I remember a time when Trent Lott, Haley Barbour, Jim Jeffords, ( and all the singing Senators ) Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Linsey Graham, and John Boehner were all the good guys on our team and it was us against those wazkully Democrats...
Then the reality hit me on the head like a freakin' 2 x 4 and I realized they all flawed (perhaps even way worse than I am as a human being, let alone their inability to take a stand or speak the truth and not eat at the K-Street slop trough) and are playing in the looney bin called Disney on the Potomac, and that includes the Clinton's and all their minions...
not a fan at all but strokes suck...my father had two and the second one killed him...not something that should be joked about.
I can sit all day long, get fat, read, read, read, ... FR and others .... take time to LEARN stuff I need if I'm to converse/argue intelligently .... got elected to the school board ... THOROUGHLY ENJOYiNG BEING THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ASS THOSE PEOPLE HAVE EVER MET
Promoting another, close to retiring guy for an open seat on the board ...
Plan to double team the socialist bastards !
Justice arrives in many ways.
yup...when a poster says they are glad someone had a stroke how different is this place than democratic underground?
I,for one, find it very difficult to dredge up sympathy for people who have a history of evil,or of enabling evil.
BTW, Strokes are horrid, I hope they got to her in time with the proper meds/procedures and that she can make a full/best recovery.
Not meaning to obfuscate your good point but, when was that? Had not the mods/Jim stepped in every time someone got seriously ill or died threads like this were often nothing but venom.
The only time I remember someone dying and the mods just letting the thread go it's natural course was when Ted Kennedy died. But here's an effort (granted half hearted) I'll make:
Best wishes for Shalala's speedy recovery!
Perhaps 20+ years of numerous felons escaping justice because of their Demonrat party affiliation has taken a toll on politeness and your idea of "class."
If justice can't be meted out through the legal system, why pretend these criminals deserve anything except our contempt?
The GOPe has perfected the art of losing gracefully. It appears that's worn on off on some FReepers too.
If she had a stroke, I hope she recovers fully and quickly. Given it was apparently announced by the Clinton Foundation, I have my doubts.
As an explanation ... I never grieved for "my esteemed colleague on the other side of the aisle" when Ted's ability to brain damagedly vote could be covered up no more
It is suspected he cast 2 or 3 votes from Hell
She inspired my actions that got me my first Secret Service visit....
