Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the Republican Party has shifted much further right than the rest of the country — and GOP leaders must get its fringe members in line.
During an appearance at the Washington Ideas Forum on Wednesday, Powell said it “should be obvious to party leaders that they cannot keep saying and doing the things that they were doing and hope to be successful in national-level election in the future, not just in 2016.”

Powell is an affirmative action careerist.
He was promoted over many more qualified generals by Bush 41.
He then was given the position of Secretary of State by Bush 43.
He failed at both. He was in charge for the Mogudishu disaster. He was terrible in his role as Secretary of State.
He pretends Republicans should listen to him.

He is and never was a Republican. He is a person of color that used that fact to rise higher in a government that was eager to raise him up solely because of that. He wasn’t “unqualified” but he wasn’t “more qualified” than others.
He is also responsible for stopping HW from going onto Baghdad in Gulf War 1 when Saddam would have been taken out then. Reports I’ve read is that he got his panties in a bunch over the Highway of Death out of Kuwait and didn’t want to answer to the world for other actions like it in taking Iraq.
Powell had his opportunity to shape public policy. So step away from the podium and let the willing try to govern.
