One Fact Everyone Has Forgotten About Ted Cruz Might Be His Key To The White House
Western Journalism ^ | October 1, 2015 | Randy DeSoto

Posted on 10/03/2015 9:46:49 AM PDT by Isara

Almost all of Cruz’s initiatives received unanimous support.

Many may not realize that before Ted Cruz was a U.S. Senator he had a lengthy career in various positions, one of which makes him particularly well suited to roll back the explosion of regulations under the Obama administration.

Following Cruz’s graduation from Harvard Law School in 1995, stints as a clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and in the practice of private law, the Texan ultimately ended up serving in George W. Bush administration in the early part of the last decade.

PJ Media reports that Cruz, as director Federal Trade Commission’s Office of Policy Planning, was known as a consensus builder. “Almost all of Cruz’s initiatives received unanimous support among both Republicans and Democrats” who comprised the five members of commission, two of whom served in Bill Clinton’s administration.

Cruz fought successfully against weighing down the blooming e-commerce business (including the explosion of companies like Amazon and eBay) with new regulations designed to protect old brick-and-mortar stores.

Another of Cruz’s favorite fights was taking on crony capitalism. According to PJ Media:

Cruz also sent dozens of letters to states to fight new efforts to enshrine crony capitalism. Cruz sent a letter to New York to challenge a legislative attempt to impose a “minimum markup” on the sale of gasoline. This bill was a naked attempt to force gas stations to raise prices, but was couched as helping consumers. Cruz also sent letters to promote competition in financial services and energy markets. Through it all, Cruz kept his focus on the ultimate little guy — the consumer.

Over a decade later, presidential candidate Cruz has remained faithful to stand against crony capitalism. As reported by Western Journalism, he told a Wall Street crowd this summer:

The simple reality is big business does great with big government…I’ll give you a statistic that you’ll never hear President Obama or Hillary Clinton admit: the top 1 percent, the millionaires and billionaires Obama constantly demagogues today earn a higher share of our income, than any year since 1928.

“There is a tendency in Washington to support giant corporations,” he said, adding that “the Democratic party is the party of the rich, big government and cronyism. That is the Democratic Party.”

Cruz offered the example of Dodd-Frank, which “killed hundreds and even thousands of small financial institutions” because they could not comply with its onerous regulations, which the candidate said Wall Street helped write.

“I don’t think government should be playing the role of either Santa Claus or thug,” the senator said.

If I were advising the Cruz campaign, I would NOT play up his connections to the GWB-RINO Administration.

Ted Cruz would be the best possible candidate for the welfare of the Republic.
Unfortunately, it looks like he is not going to be the candidate. Trump will probably be the candidate. Despite the media’s wishful thinking, he is NOT losing steam.

US Constitution.

The article makes good points. But most folks won’t be paying much attention to those points, simply because Cruz is not all that dynamic as a speaker (compare with Trump). Reagan had the touch, Cruz does not.

Cruz needs to study Trump, and Trump’s campaign, very carefully. And I think Cruz is doing just that.

Well stated but let us take a different tack on this, I sense a once in a lifetime opportunity...

Donald and Ted already have a tacit agreement between them and that to me indicates some synergy of ideas etc.

Now, instead of following the established rituals of debates, I say put on your own with a discussion

Anyway, if Ted and Donald come out as a team and continue with the Carson, Icahn etc messages people see they are already past the talk and ready to work As A Team for the USA.

In short, stop all of the Media control over the debates which manicures and shapes imagery which is as far as many voters use to decide.

Thoughts??

I am a disruptor to established status quo, professionally I do this across huge companies to align them and help them work as a team organically

Dancing to their tune is not working, time to go to shock and awe is very very close...

Watch and See...

“There is a tendency in Washington to support giant corporations,” he said, adding that “the Democratic party is the party of the rich, big government and cronyism. That is the Democratic Party.”

So were the National Socialists.

The parallels between the German National Socialists and the American Democrats are actually chilling.

The current Democrat party is also obsessed with race, and is full of rampant anti-semitism. Big Government is the solution to everything, and conformity of political thought is absolutely insisted upon.

His wife also worked in the GWB administration as well as CFR and for the "crony capitalist" financial institutions.

The Cruz's are well connected with crony capitalists, one worlders and GOPe and don't think for one minute he won't be beholden to them for their "secret" PAC donations. Secret because he's not allowed to communicate with them (WINK-WINK) that is not until after he's elected, then he will be reminded who got him there and what he'll have to do if he wants to stay.

Cruz is a fraud!

After 2000 election recount, which Ted Cruz was in the middle of it, his goal was to be one of senior advisors in Bush administration. Now, he thanks God that this prayer was never answered.

I have already chosen my primary votes; I will vote for Cruz, assuming he is still available when the primary runs in Georgia.
But Trump is on the list of candidates for whom I am willing to vote in the General. Bush, Kasich, Fiorina, and Christie are not. Carson, I’m so-so about.

That's a very good idea! I hope Trump reads Free Republic.

But I would rather they not abandon the debates. Instead hold additional discussions, just Trump and Cruz, with a decent moderator, maybe Mark Levin or Mark Steyn.

If no station will run it, run it as an infomercial. Trump has the money for that, and the ratings would probably beat whatever else is on.

Tremendous idea!

Someone tweet this to Trump if you are on Twitter.

One of the best ideas I have seen in a long time! Good job!!

Debates...

How about a meeting of the minds, an open televised session where ideas are shared and mutual agreement and commitment is visible to the populace

The key reason Politicians get away with all of this is no one keeps track of what they say and promise and what they actually do

Boehner, McConnel etc.

Election is to them a beauty pageant to get them back in the club...

I have a way to accomplish it and involve citizens in helping keep track of all they say and do...

And in a social environment that promotes connections

Accountability as measured by the Governed (Consent of the Governed - from the framers)

Watch and See...

I disagree. Cruz is a stellar debater and has been since college days. Apparently he wows crowds where he actually has more than 30 seconds to speak. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here.

I vehemently disagree. Cruz is one of the few candidates who is as he represents himself to be. Like Donald Trump, he has made all the right enemies, meaning that the GOPe and their mouthpieces (Boehner, McConnell, etc) all despise him and would like nothing better than to drive him out.

My admonition for Cruz NOT to play up his connections to the GWB administration is based upon the net result of the GWB years (NOT good), plus the fact that the public is exhibiting plenty of Bush-fatigue (witness Jeb at 4%) and Cruz does not need to be associated with that sort of thing.

I see a Republican field with quite a few decent candidates and a few duds (Bush).

If those who care about this country work together as a team, without allowing personal ambition and ego to get in the way, then the next 8+ years could be outstanding. (Lots of housecleaning still needed in the House and Senate, too, but getting rid of Boehner is a great first step.)

I liked Walker, who was my 2d choice. I hope he continues to work for the benefit of the country and that he has some role in the next administration.
