Ron Johnson: U.S. ground troops needed in Syria (echos McCain and Graham)

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said he favors committing U.S. ground troops to a multinational military coalition that would enter Syria and create safe zones for refugees fleeing the war-torn nation.

Johnson, a first-term Republican, spoke Friday at Madison-Kipp Corp. in Madison, at an event to mark Wisconsin Manufacturing Month.

Johnson said he doesn’t know how many U.S. ground troops would be required for the effort. Russia’s recent involvement in the region may complicate it, he added.

Johnson’s Syria stance puts him in line with other hawkish GOP senators, including Republicans Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona, who also have called for U.S. troops in Syria.

Graham also is a presidential candidate. Another GOP presidential hopeful, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, also spoke Friday in favor of a ground coalition to create safe zones in Syria.

Why not join Russia and Syria and wipe out ISIS?

I wouldn’t put US ground troops in there. Putin has enough brass to bomb them and then say it was an accident.

“...Sen. Ron Johnson said he favors committing U.S. ground troops to a multinational military coalition...”

Which will be paid for with 90% U.S. taxpayer dollars and fought by at least 90% U.S. troops. No, thank you, been there, done that!

Not it.

Pride and the fact that “our side” isn’t interested in taking out ISIS, we’re fixated on Assad.

I’ve said since the rise of ISIS that we should at least coordinate with Assad to deal with the bigger threat and maybe even get a little leverage against Iran.

Obama said that WE ARE NOT going to get into a proxy war in Syria with Russia.

I guess that means we are going to do it, no matter how stupid it is.

Now we even have confirmation.

Trump has also said he would use ground troops to take out ISIS if nothing else works.

I say we send every American journalist to Syria to provide safe zones.

They gave us Obama, and now they can clean up his shirt.

With the punk idiot in the WH as not only the President of our country responsible for this mess, he is also the Commander-in-Chief of our military he hates, and hasn’t a clue how to lead.

Under the circumstances with this asshat in charge I see no reason to rush into a war we will most certainly lose many lives due his, and his political party’s ineptitude. Just like Viet Nam.

This isn’t a slam at our military. It’s true Obama has the last word on what to do just like Johnson did, and his words killed thousands of our people.

The recent batch of GOP Senators seemed to be absorbed as soon as they got to Washington. Ayotte turned into a McCainiac, too

Bush-43 used China credit card in Iraq.
($2 trillion added to national debt, we will pay interest for ever)

Which card senator Johnson wants to use in Syria?

I’d rather see our troops on the southern border of the USA with orders to shoot to kill.

I don’t remember seeing anything in the papers about his three kids signing up down at the recruiting station. Must have missed it.
