That’s much, much more difficult to do in the political arena than you realize. EVERY politician is expected to compromise his/her core values at some point and go along to get along - that’s how most of them get the funding they need to get elected. Only a select few are willing to hold consistently to their core values and the chance that one of them could become speaker is so remote that it’s inconsequential.

It was a very rare event when Ronald Reagan compromised his principles. One can lead successfully and keep core values intact, if one has the abilities.

Agreed. Reagan was one of the select few. It takes a person of moral courage and firmly-held principles to hold to his core convictions.
