Patriots are designed to shoot down missiles, not aircraft.

The Turks are the enemy of Iran. Russia is Iran’s ally and the Russians don’t give a flying flock of frogs about Christians or Armenians or fighting terrorists- Lord knows the Russians have funded their share of terrorists over the years. They are happily bombing the snot out of the Christian opposition to Assad’s regime as well as any other group that is a threat to the Syrian regime and Russia’s Mediterranean port access.

[Patriots are designed to shoot down missiles, not aircraft.]

Not originally. They were designed to shoot down fast-moving aircraft. They discovered they could be used against missiles. Those were the first Patriot batteries, that is, which was long ago.

When nothing makes sense we are told to check our premises. Maybe the incorrect premise is that O is on our side.

He seems to want to set the world on fire. Pouring gas on social issues in the USA and making a complete mess out of Egypt, Libya and Syria. Seems like he’s getting much of that done.

The Patriots could protect this particular missile defense system radar which the Iranians dislike so much and have attempted to take down through proxies because this system acts as an early warning system for Israel as well as NATO.
Thus Iran sees the Patriots as a “threat” to their offensive capability against that particular radar system, and therefor a “threat” to any future strike Iran may want to take against Israel. Israel, meanwhile, for obvious reasons, views Iran’s nuclear program as an unacceptable threat to its existence.
Iran knows Israel has a great need to neutralize the Iranian nuclear program and so far this effort to neutralize it has been deadly serious business, though most people have not been paying attention to just how deadly it has already been.

No, it doesn’t invite more aggression. The Russians will stabilize Syria.

Without our carrier there, and without Patriot missiles in Turkey, there is simply less chance for Obama to get his Big War from an accidental shootdown.

In the meantime, terrorists get wiped out.

Thanks again.

Not to exhaust your time, but do you happen to know when the missiles were ordered for installation?

Erdogan has, in fact, reached out to Iran in an effort to unite Muslims and stop the internecine struggles between Sunni and Shiite. It is, in fact, a way to subvert any influence the Russians have with Iran, a nation which owes a great deal of money to Russia.

The Russians are owed money by the Iranians and are not going to just walk away. Just like the US during the early 1980’s when we were supporting the Afghans in their fight against Russia, the Russians joined up with the Iranians in opposition to the US. Hey! It was the Cold War.

It’s now 35 years later, the Cold War is over, and the Soviet Union is dead. I know it’s dead because people are doing business with Russia and Eastern Europe, and goods are going back and forth, and THAT is reality. The Russian Orthodox Church is doing great business, and they have the support of Putin. The Muslims do not have the support of him, though.

What Christian opposition to Assad’s regime? Assad’s old man, Hafez al-Assad, was a murdering tyrant, but his son has been trying to protect minorities against ISIS and Al’qaeda. The struggles within Syria now seem to have been between Sunnis (Free Syrian Army) and Alawites.

I will admit my passage above is simplistic and the situation is complicated. But Putin is killing the opponents of Bashar al-Assad and letting God sort them out. The last thing the Russians need is to have Erdogan try to interfere.

No actually he was “bluzzing” to Pooty Poot about parting the seas and other non sense as well as taking over as King of the World, or UN, Just like Billy used to dream...

Vlad despises him and called him a Putz during an interviewn on Russian TV

Schmuck versus putz
Schmuck is a name for someone who is mean, foolish, or inept. Synonyms include jerk and idiot. There is a pejorative connotation to the term. The plural is schmucks.

Putz is even less formal than schmuck. Putz can be either a noun or a verb. As a noun it describes a person as foolish or without value, usually someone who does not contribute to society or a family. The plural is putzes.

As a verb, it is the action of doing things that are time consuming without being worthwhile. In other words, activities that a putz would do.

Even though they don’t seem similar, putz and schmuck share the same meaning in Yiddish. Schmuck comes from shmok meaning penis. And putz comes from putz, which is another word for penis.

Right on...

Consistent with one of Obama’s first moves as president to abandon plans to put defensive missiles in Poland and other east European nations. And this move could complicate our continuing use of the Incirlik Air Force base in Turkey, I think our only major AF base in the Middle East.

In the world we now live in, when does it ever make sense to remove anti-missile defense systems?

I wonder if we'll learn that the removal of the Patriots from Turkey was part of some side deal to conclude the nuclear development agreement with Iran?

Turkey never should have been accepted into NATO.
