Russia Responds To U.S. Criticism By Recalling Post-9/11 Support

MOSCOW, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Russia strongly rebuffed U.S. criticism of its air strikes in Syria on Tuesday, reminding Washington how it had supported the United States in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks on New York in 2001.

Moscow has become increasingly critical of what it says is a Western propaganda campaign aimed at distorting the aims of its Syria intervention. The Kremlin says its primary goal is to help President Bashar al-Assad fight Islamic State militants. But the United States and others have accused it of acting to try to prop up Assad and of targeting other rebel groups instead.

In comments likely to draw a reaction in Washington, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Tuesday evoked the Kremlin's reaction to 9/11 when rejecting the U.S. stance on Russia's Syria operation.

And it wasn’t Russia that committed 9/11, it was our “Ally” the Saudis.

Regardless of Russia's primary goal, it's impossible for Syria to effectively fight the ISIS terrorists if they are simultaneously losing to Obama's pet terrorists. I'm hoping Russia succeeds. Europe would be better off without the young, fit, male so-called refugees from the Syrian war. Syria's Christians would be better off without the rebels on both sides who are wiping them out.

Christian communities have been in Syria continuously for just under 2,000 years. It would be a shame if, after surviving Roman persecutions, Mohamed's conquest, the Crusades, and the rest of their history, they were finally wiped out by Obama's hatred for civilization.

I recall Russia received a lot of post-USSR US support as well.

Maybe the point should be that when nations that have a Christian heritage unite, they defeat the forces of evil.

Why THE HECK are we on the side of Saudi Arabia, which had the worse record for tolerance and protection of Christians and other minorities? We should accept no nation or leader as an ally that does not protect all of its citizens.

Oh, the Saudis are so nice they are fixing to behead and crucify a 20 year old protestor.

It appears the Regime wants to start a war with Russia. Perhaps to focus attention of the American people on something outside the country. Nothing like a war and an “enemy” for that purpose. It’s all very Orwellian.
