Our SS is a damn joke. Would rather be on welfare since it pays more.

LOL as if Sam’s club gets all their milk from one place.
The milk at my local Sam’s comes from the T.G. Lee dairy in Orange City, FL. T.G. Lee also delivers their brand name milk to other stores (I’ve seen the trucks). There’s a code on every milk carton that you can look up to see what dairy it came from.
Go to whereismymilkfrom.com

Good news for all of those Paying. In order to give that increase, taxes would have to increase. For all of the SS takers, you may be happy to know that the rest of us have seen our after tax and inflation wages decrease. So we are all in the same miserable boat together.

I’m in Texas I am only reporting what I have been told since I have not been shopping in a while.

I don’t need Sam anymore; our local SaveMart store’s dairy products are now all RBST free.

I lived in Greenville, SC, and they built right across the street from Walmart. Made it very convenient for me lol I really liked the store. I bought an apple tree there once. All the small appliances I bought there were great, and I got an outdoor slider loveseat (metal with mesh seating) that has lasted really well.

Exactly. The lower cost of gas only makes overall weekly expenses fractionally less painful. Going grocery shopping is just an exercise in seeing what’s gone up this week.

COLA is only the 3rd rail for retirees

Most states with an income tax allow retirees to exclude some or all of their income from Social Security, pensions, or both.

For many retirees, this makes income taxes the least of their worries.

There are nine states that exempt all federal, military, and in-state pensions as well as all Social Security benefits from income tax: Alabama, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, and Pennsylvania. Alabama, Hawaii, and Illinois also exempt income from certain types of private pensions.

Pennsylvania and Mississippi are unique in that they are the only states in the country that exempt all retirement income, even IRA and 401(k) distributions.

The $50 fee is definitely only worth it if you buy enough to save the fee and then some of course. For me, I just get a few things there- ground chuck, pork sausage, milk, eggs, cream, gallon tea bags, cold cuts, and dog food.

Texas doesn’t even have an income tax and gives great breaks to disabled on property taxes, IIRC.

“The Soviet of Washington did so as well...”

That’s Olympia’s M.O. Gas goes down, add some tax to maintain the status quo. But when it goes up again, the tax stays. The legislature will have spent it on studies for new projects they’ll never get built. Can you say Alaskan Way tunnel (the big dig west)?

Notice they don’t mention military retirees. We’ve been sucking up Obama’s and the GOPe’s deficits since Obama got elected.

FYI

Do you see a pattern?

Low labor penetration.
Minimal wage increase.
Low energy prices.
Three month US Treasuries selling at 0%.

Hmm........

Will the stock market go up in the near future?

Sorry, don’t buy it, at least not in California where there is always some calamity or unscheduled facility repair that manages to bump the price of gas right back up there. And from what I have observed the lower price of gas so far has not reduced the price of electricity or water, or food and medicine.
