Gas prices are not included when inflation rates are high. But they are included if they need to show inflation is down.

Ground beef is 5+ a pound but there is no inflation. Don’t you just love government numbers.

Where do you live? I get ground chuck (more expensive than ground beef) for $4.99 a pound at Publix, which is a more expensive supermarket in Florida.

My mother worked at Publix back the last time we lived in Hollywood, Florida, circa 1968.

By law, the annual cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, is based on a government measure of inflation, which is being dragged down by lower prices at the pump. Well then, maybe the gubmint should consider the inflation in food costs that they are ignoring.

But you know how many hundreds of miles seniors drive every day so lower gas prices really help them a lot. LOL.

When I lived in SC and shopped Aldi’s, they had very good meat prices (we moved about 4 years ago). Their house brands were also very good. I’m really sad there is not an Aldi’s here (Jacksonville, FL). That said, I buy ground chuck for $3.48 lb at Sam’s Club (bulk 4-5 lb pkg). The milk is also priced great at less than $3 a gallon.

And when you run the numbers, the lower gas price saves them far more cash than a COLA would have given. Curious statement, what about all of those that don't/can't drive anymore?

Sam’s club milk gags me.
It used to be good, but they changed suppliers about 2 years ago.

although the COLA is direct, for those that receive SS but don’t drive, if you run the numbers as Freeper Norm suggests, there are very large savings that will trickle down to them as well
