Well, that’s pretty much an admission that the molestation accusations were true as well, isn’t it?
Yes.
Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Thursday reached a plea deal in a criminal case involving charges that he paid $3.5 million is hush money to cover up wrongdoing from decades ago as a high school teacher in Illinois.
U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin ordered Hastert to enter the guilty plea at 9 a.m. on Oct. 28, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.
Sources previously told POLITICO on Wednesday that it is likely the deal will include more than a year in prison for violating a federal banking law because he withdrew $900,000 to pay someone in an effort to cover up past misconduct.

It is an admission that he lied to Federal investigators. What he did (payola) wasn’t a crime as I understand it. His depraved moral failings aside, they got him cold on the lying.

It would look that way, but may not necessarily be true. He would have to explain why he paid blackmail money rather than fight the charge though or that will certainly be the impression. People plead guilty all the time to things they didn’t do, in order to avoid a greater risk incurred by fighting and possibly losing. See for instance the Alford plea; so common the tactic has a name.
I never liked Hastert and don’t have any opinion whether he did it or not. But pleading guilty to one charge doesn’t prove a separate offense.
What about the”Extortion”that he has undergone?Isn’t that still a”CRIME”???????????????
People don't usually pay blackmailers for something that they didn't do.
