Nevada regulators have ordered daily fantasy sports sites like DraftKings and FanDuel to shut down, saying they can't operate in the state without a gambling license.
The decision comes amid growing backlash by investigators and regulators over the sites, which have grown in popularity in the past year.
The sites insist they are skill-based games and not chance-based wagers, and are therefore not subject to gambling regulations.

All I know about them is that they have certainly been putting on an ad campaign lately. See them all the time on Direct TV. My guess is they will lose that fight, even if what they state is a fact (not that I am saying it is). But nothing will prevent them from moving offshore I guess.
Gotta get their cut I guess.
Meanwhile islamo filth slips by ...
Nice fantasy Football business, it would be a shame if anything happened to it...
We knew the casino mafioso who pads the politicians would win the day
Gee, the gaming industry can get the state to do anything it wants. Go figure.
The commercials are freaking ridiculous.
One guy says he’s put in 35 bucks and won over 2 million.
Be interesting to see who is behind these operations.
Can I ask a stupid question?
How can the state of Nevada ban these games and sites? The games are played in the internet. How would they know if someone in Nevad goes on these sites???
I certainly will be very happy not to have to see their dumb commercials every five seconds on every sports program I watch.
Great skit. They’re shaking down an army base as a protection racket. Hahahaha!
“Be a shame if anything should happen to one of your pretty tanks, Colonel” “Things do burn you know?”
A professional gambler is viewed under the tax code as engaged in the trade or business of gambling. The taxpayer nets all gambling winning and losing sessions, and reports the result (either zero or greater) as gross receipts on the Schedule C. The limitation on deducting gambling losses still applies.
Because the professional gambler is viewed as self-employed, the taxpayer may also deduct ordinary and necessary business expenses incurred in connection with the business.
The professional gambler is also subject to the self-employment tax, which is a social security and Medicare tax primarily for individuals who work for themselves. It is similar to the social security and Medicare taxes withheld from the pay of most wage earners. For the 2011 tax year, the self-employment tax was 13.3% for the first $106,000 of business income, and 2.9% thereafter. A taxpayer may deduct one-half of the self-employment tax as an above the line deduction.
Courts have ruled poker is a game of skill. This will be challenged in court and should be.
Velocity channel in my case. With the Saints playing like the Ain’ts my football viewing has diminished. I watch until all is lost, which seems like it’s been pretty early in the game, especially last week. Afraid to watch tonight since they are playing our rivals the dirty birds from Atlanta. Oh well, at least we able to really enjoy many seasons since Payton & Drew came to town. Still love my boys, even though I know so few of them this year because so many are new to the team.
I really love poker (Texas and Omaha Hold 'Em) and I play often. But I disagree with the above ruling. I plan to strike that ruling down once President Trump appoints me to the Supreme Court.
Chess is a game of skill. Checkers is a game of skill. Poker is a game of skill and chance, with enough chance to put it out of the "skill" category, IMHO.
They advertise on Limbaugh and Hannity too.
Yeah, what a bunch of damn liars these guys are. The old adage is "if it sounds too good to be true...."
Major League Baseball (MLB) owns part of DraftKings.
Part owner of FanDuel is Comcast which I assume has given them regime immunity.
Not a stupid question at all. But I assume they have made the ruling which now opens the door that they possibly could subpoena records from them to show where deposits have come from to their gaming websites. If they find anyone from Nevada participating then they have a case to go forward? Interesting what I have found out there regarding these sites. They sound as crooked as the day is long in my opinion, and that’s was my thought just from hearing their claims on TV ads.
Well, I happen to be the guy who won all that money. I gave some of that money to my wife, Morgan Fairchild. And I gave some of it to my mistress, Jennifer Aniston.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
In NV, online poker is legal. To verify the player’s location, many of the sites require the player to either install a gps app on their phones or give a phone number and they can poll the phone company to see if the phone is in NV.
Nevada may require the fantasy sites to do something similar.
Not that I doubt you, but do you have any links that I can see? I couldn’t really find out anything about them, other than the FBI, CIA, & Doris Day are investigating the heck out of them both with lots of allegations of insider advantages as they seem to bet on each others websites, and like 17% win 90% of the winnings. If MLB and Comcast are behind this then they may find themselves in a world of trouble before this is all over.
