I think Cruz is just being a politician trying to make something that’s not going to happen, happen.

I actually snorted in amusement when I read the thread title.

I would support him.
Think about a real debate between him and el-stupido Hildabeast.
Do da term “fish in a barrel” sound familiar?

With any luck he’ll be right. Eventually people will move past the incredibly successful marketing team of Trump and go for the only real conservative left in the race.

“Cruz said that “as voters get more educated, study the candidates, listen to the candidates in person,” conservatives are getting behind his candidacy.”

If you do not go after the GOPe and the press like Trump has, you will not get that support.

The lay low strategy with an appeal to sophistication, assuming that the support for Trump is out of ignorance, is assuming a right to support that Trump has earned not just fallen into. That can be a recipe for a rude awakening.

Huh. Does anyone know if this is the first Cruz appearance since the campaign started this year? They have week after week joke candidates with less than much less support than Cruz, yet I don’t recall him being on before.

If we don’t save our constitution now, there will be nothing left to save.

Trump is turning Cruz supporters against Cruz. You see it around here bad.

Is Cruz a solutions driven manager? If so, I don’t see it yet. He’s mostly a antagonist.

Trump makes things work to an end result. Yeah, he steps on some feelings on his way but in the end he is a successful creator.

However, I am biased in favor of business people - the ones who really make the world run...and not the lawyers who are parasites on the creative builders.

“You know others have gone out of their way to smack (Trump), I haven’t,” Cruz noted.

And vice versa I’ve noticed. They would make a great ticket.

"Well, the natural follow up if that's the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?"

Ted is my choice in spirit, Trump in the real world, with Cruz vp then pres for 8 more.

What Ted doesn't point out here, but I think knows ... is that while both will stand up to Washington, only Trump at this point in his life has enough experience and charisma, and hence Americans that will follow him, to actually turn that standing-up into moving-wasghington.

Patience Ted, ensure Trump's election, and in 8 years you will have both the brains and the power, not just the brains.

Cruz has to find a way to get up to the #2 slot in the polls. Then he may have a real shot at putting a dent or possibly even overtaking Trump. He will have to do superbly in the debates along with a good effective ground game. Tall order from where he is now but it can be done.

I like Cruz..I liked Walker and Perry too. But now it looks like Trump will get the nom...if he can keep his fat mouth shut...so let’s see how all this shakes out. Im of the opinion that the train has left the station for Cruz.

the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington

That's more of a tactical issue.

It's the policy issues like immigration, trade policy, the deficit, that are central. For me it's immigration.

I wonder if NBC and the other MSM would care to point out for us who the “firebrand” Democrats are?

If Cruz the corporatist were not Cruz the corporatist, raising work visas more that 500% and wobbling on the trade deals which are as bad or worse than NAFTA, and wobbling further on retention of job stealing, tax gobbling illegals, he would not have to hope the Trump campaign will implode to boost his numbers. Tedchampion of the middle class would have moved higher faster.

Now, he is about as trustworthy as Bush or Rubio or McCain or on and on.

I like Ted Cruz, but he needs to realize that many of us out here just don’t believe he is as concerned over illegal immigration as we are. Personally, I can’t see him deporting them, at least not on the scale I think Donald Trump would. Anyway, sorry Ted, my family and I are voting for Trump.
