TOMBSTONE, Ariz. (AP) — An actor staging a historical gunfight in the Old West town of Tombstone and a bystander were shot with live rounds during a show that was supposed to use blanks, leading officials to call for the re-enactments popular with tourists to be put on hold.

The shooting happened Sunday afternoon as two performers from the Tombstone Vigilante group re-enacted a gunfight in the 19th century mining town made famous by Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and the O.K. Corral.

Ah. Will take into consideration. Thanks for the local insight! {^)

Just the same, and I'll bet you would agree -- those individuals are not actors, they are reenactors.

It's scary how many people apparently think the guys doing the shooting are Hollywood-style professional working actors. *sigh*

Just got back from a shoot where it was all and only about reenacting in a sense, and while we have had some actors at our events, there were none there this time. Yet if someone had accidentally gotten shot and the news story was about that instead of this thing, I hate to think how many ninnies here would smugly be moralizing, "stupid actors!"

It doesn’t. That’s NOT Tombstone, Arizona...

Didn’t think so. The no parking sign in a different language kinda gives it away. Do you know where it is? If there were boardwalks it could pass. Some of the doorways are in the right position but the buildings are too tall and it just doesn’t look right.

They’re ( Tombstone Vigilantes ) just a bunch of guys hiding out in Tombstone drinking Bud Light. They’re not even re enactors let alone actors. Just playing cowboy and hoping whatever state they’re from doesn’t find them and hit them up for back child support or that FTA on the DWI charge back in Florida or wherever.

As long as it was only Earp and his friends and brothers with the guns, he didn’t have much problem with them

I was in a reenactment group 13-14 years ago. GREAT FUN. We never had live ammo in the calibers of our show weapons. Many times we only had our show weapons with us. This mistake is not just stupid it is a special kind of stupid. Our group even did shows in Tombstone a few times. Great environment. If you get a chance, join a group, but play smart.
