......There are lessons to be learned from Trump's unexpected popularity. The most important one is that there is broad support for some components of his immigration platform, even among Hispanics.
Yes, you read that right.
Polls show that many Hispanics agree with Trump that illegal immigration is a huge problem. The eventual GOP nominee should, of course, reject the divisive, inflammatory language Trump and his supporters have often used to make the case for reform. But there are smart policy ideas buried under all that rhetoric. They ought to be incorporated into the official party platform.
What's more, many Hispanic citizens have little sympathy for immigrants who haven't played by the rules.

Funny how the Republican neocons are for open borders for the USA but if anyone mentions open borders for Israel they call them anti-semitic.
Republican PUKEneocons are our enemy.
Yep. They’re ‘controlled opposition”, a smoke screen.
I once made the mistake of bringing up illegals in a conversation. The result.......was volcanic. Spanish is a great language for invective.
I'm sure that some (legal) immigrants are sympathetic to illegals, but that sure wasn't my experience.
Legal Immigrants and minorities are MOST impacted by the SLAVE WAGES imposed by a labor market flooded with ILLEGALS!
The legally recognized naturalized and native-born Hispanic voters are almost OVERWHELMINGLY against the concept of open and undocumented invasion of the territory once known as “the United States of America”. This is not only a direct competition for employment, the unidentified criminals that arrive with this influx give ALL Hispanics an unfairly bad reputation.
And we haven’t even gotten into the Islamic element that is slipping into this country, counting on an appearance similar to many Hispanics, and thus evading detection.
Legal Immigrants and minorities are MOST impacted by the SLAVE WAGES imposed by a labor market flooded with ILLEGALS!
Libtards are so confused, are these not the same people calling for the $15.00 min wage?
yet their policies are the ones who made the SLAVE WAGES that make the illegals so attractive for hire to some?
Crazy house!
Now if we could just get the “only real conservative” Republicans like Carson and Cruz on board with securing the border, we might start getting somewhere.
I think it’s tummy that the msm online talks about Trump’s support within the party. It is broad. If he gets the nomination, he’s our next president.
And I say that as someone who is a bit uncomfortable with that. Still, it’s better than Hillary or Bush.
Many? HOW many?
Tummy = funny. Autocorrect at it again.
“Theyre controlled opposition, a smoke screen.”
Best decription I have seen yet.
Cesar Chavez agreed with Donald Trump.
NEOCONS: “Last in war, first in spending.
Trump will get at least half the non Mexican Hispanic vote
The whole point of this supposedly reasonable article by a reasonable man is to reinforce the idea that Donald Trump is divisive and inflammatory. The subtle destruction of Trump phase is beginning; the gross insults trying to bludgeon us back into the fold did not work, calling us stupid cultists and Trump a clown just made us angry, it did not shame or embarrass us into rejecting Trump.
Just watch, now there will be lots of articles like this, and the whole point of every one of them is try to plant seeds of doubt, embed a bit of poison, slyly suggest that Trump himself is not suitable. That is the real point. They are wooing us back. The intent is to calm the sheeple who are turning into a very angry, thinking, determined mob carrying torches and pitch forks, tar and feathers.
Read it this way:
Perhaps Trump has made some good points about immigration and a lot of people agree with him, but really he is so divisive and inflammatory, we really do not want him, now do we?
Watch for this, it is a technique that has been used for years to manipulate us, and it is very effective.
Whoever your choice may be, such as Ted Cruz, this trick will be used if he becomes a real threat to the status quo. For now, Trump is a non-issue, Donald Trump is the one who they are working to take out now. It is a slow process but now the real pros are here; this is professional grade toxin.
(Also watch for give-away phrase “some say”, the poison pill will follow.)
Please do not let this kind of writing manipulate you. See it for what it is. If they are successful in “kookifying” Trump, they will move onto the next patriot we the people would support. These articles will acknowledge our concerns, pretend to be reasonable, and very subtly destroy the candidate, and then in the end, the powerful entrenched interests will continue to do as they please.
The point of this article is only to destroy Trump — not to stop this invasion of illegal aliens.
I meant to say, for now Cruz is a non-issue.
My SIL lived in America, married to a Peruvian, for decades. She says that the people who are “invading” the US are the worst and that she and her extended family are not fans. I am watching this issue shift her from liberal to conservative.
