Sounds a lot like a fox guarding the chicken coop. How about just defunding the DOE and letting states decide what is appropriate for the public to pay for.

People ought to be free to teach their crap theories, just not at the expense of the public. The “ideas of the left” cannot survive in a world driven by opportunity.

A "conservative" tyranny is still a tyranny. Better to restore the constitution and maximize individual liberty.

You can't directly go from here to there. The population has lost it's belief or even understanding for the concept of "freedom."

You are getting caught up in a philosophical debate rather than a "winning the war" strategy. Theory is all fine and good, but at some point you have to concede that abstract ideas don't stand up to physical reality.

Get rid of the DoE entirely, and someone’s bias remains just that - their own private bias. Society will deal with it. The important thing is that it can’t then be politicized, which is the purpose of another “progressive” arm of Gov’t, the Dept. of Education.

As joyous as the idea of bashing leftists with the government sounds, we cannot give the government this power. It is far, far too much power to give them.

When talking policy, Carson is full of “strange.” He totally ignorant outside the operating room. Unbelievable. Imagine what a Hillary or Obama would do with this ability to censor academics more than they already have in the name of “civil rights.”

This sounds dangerous.

How about just getting government out of it? My alma mater did.

It already has this power, and is already using this power against us. Have you not been paying attention? The current Homeland Security Tsar says he's going to start investigating white Christians.

Let us show the left why government needs to be constrained from this sort of thing. Let us give them a double taste of what they have been trying to do to us.

Let us break the left of the notion that we need more government. Let us convince the left to call for a reduction in government.

This kind of thinking is “progressive” - government causes a problem, so MORE government is necessary to solve it.

No, Mr Carson, the problem is caused by universities not being accountable to their customers (parents) because the gov’t is funding most of the tuition.

If the parents refused to send their kids and their money to universities that indoctrinated their kids,
universities would cease doing that or cease being universities.

The left is already censoring academics that don't agree with them. At this point, the only academics who are not being censored are the left wing academics, meaning the vast bulk of them. All we would be doing is giving them the same treatment they are already dishing out.

Giving them a taste of their own ideology is bad why?

ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRKKK Wrong answer.

Correct answer was “I would eliminate the Department of Education”.

Thank you for playing. Please enjoy some Jolly Time Popcorn and the home version of our game as consolation prizes.

And this is the most intelligent observation I've seen on this thread so far.

Yes, the government is funding much of this crap, and the funding of this crap needs to be shut down.

Bullet to the Brain, Education as executed in this country and many others is not designed to provide optimal real learning, more check boxes and Well you took the course, not my fault if you cannot find a job...

Everybody needs to go to College....

Treasure hunt: look for Very successful people who did it without College

You know, Richard Branson, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates...

Pushing all to college is a more than tacit admission by The Educrats that what you get in the first 13, was just marking time...

College is universally referred to as The New High School, and if you totally absorb what that means is the bar has been lowered or dropped about what Competencies we must attain for success and where we get them

Gettin taught by a bunch of Theoretical nut jobs is not the way IMHO

Carson is more pro-government than his sycophants will admit.

He wants more government to patrol colleges.

He wants more government to restrict Second Amendment rights in select areas [areas selected by him, of course].

==

Too many are not listening to what he actually says and they are reinterpreting things to be in line with their thinking.

Balderdash!

The road to liberty is to found by ... (wait for it)...the pursuit of liberty! Utilitarianism is a morally bankrupt philosophy and a justification for government totalitarianism. For a moral and religious people a smaller government will provide the conditions for the blessings of liberty. A benevolent dictator is still a dictator.

Power of government is like Tolkien's Ring of Power.

It is far more powerful than I ever dared to think at first, so powerful that in the end it would utterly overcome anyone of mortal race who possessed it. It would possess him."

As much as I'd like to see scrubbing of leftist bias, this could backfire real quick.
Be careful what you wish for.
